The film features interviews with people charged with crimes for participating in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
What The Insurrectionist Next Door is about
Directed and produced by Alexandra Pelosi, the documentary centers on conversations with several people charged over their participation in the January 6 Capitol events. HBO’s synopsis says Pelosi interviewed them over the preceding two years, asking what brought them to Washington and whether their views had changed.
Pelosi was inside the Capitol on January 6. HBO described the interviews as candid and unfiltered, and framed the film as a look at the country’s cultural and political divisions. That characterization comes from HBO’s synopsis, not an independent assessment of the documentary.
When did the documentary premiere?
HBO announced on October 10, 2023, that the film would debut Sunday, October 15, from 9:00 to 10:15 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and stream on Max. These are the originally announced release details; they do not confirm that the film remains available on either service today. HBO’s announcement also identified the documentary as Pelosi’s fifteenth HBO documentary.
