Eagle Strike is Anthony Horowitz’s fourth Alex Rider novel. Alex is holidaying in the south of France when an attack on his hosts pulls him into a mystery—and, unlike earlier missions, MI6 does not want to help. The story pits him against pop star and philanthropist Sir Damian Cray, whose plan Alex believes could have catastrophic consequences.
What is Eagle Strike about?
Anthony Horowitz’s official synopsis begins with Alex relaxing in the south of France. A sudden attack on his hosts plunges the reluctant MI6 agent back into danger, “and this time, MI6 don’t want to know.” Horowitz’s official book page presents that lack of agency support as a key turn in the story.
The publisher identifies the antagonist as Sir Damian Cray, a famous pop star and philanthropist who is also associated with peace activism. Alex recognizes the danger in Cray’s plan and tries to stop it. That sets up a thriller in which Alex must investigate and act without the usual backing from MI6. Penguin Random House’s book record provides the publisher’s synopsis.
Where does it fall in the Alex Rider series?
Eagle Strike is book four in Horowitz’s official series listing. It comes after Skeleton Key and before Scorpia. Readers following the author’s sequence can use the official Alex Rider books list to check the surrounding titles.

Prose novel or graphic novel: which edition is which?
The prose novel and its graphic-novel adaptation are separate books, with different ISBNs and publication details. The graphic novel adapts the fourth book in the original series; it is not simply another printing of the prose edition.
| Edition | Publisher-record details | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Eagle Strike (US paperback) | Puffin Books; published February 16, 2006; 368 pages; ISBN 9780142406137 | Prose novel |
| Eagle Strike: An Alex Rider Graphic Novel | Candlewick; published September 5, 2017; 176 pages; ISBN 9780763692568 | Graphic-novel adaptation, credited to Anthony Horowitz and Antony Johnston, with illustrations by Kanako and Yuzuru Takasaki |
The edition details come from the respective US paperback record and graphic-novel record. Choose by format preference: the prose edition is the full-length novel, while the adaptation tells the story in illustrated panels. Page counts alone do not show which will be easier or more enjoyable for an individual reader.
What age or reading level does the publisher suggest?
For the US paperback record consulted, Penguin Random House lists age guidance of 10 and up, grade 5 and up, and a Lexile measure of 690L. These are publisher-provided guideposts for that record, not a universal judgment about every reader or edition.
