She has said the experiences grew worse each time. The available reporting does not establish that she had multiple distinct diseases—or whether her die-hard fans knew about her experiences.
What Morissette has said about her health
In a 2026 interview reported by the Los Angeles Times, Morissette said she experienced postpartum depression after each of her three children. She described anxiety, depression, rage, ceaseless intrusive thoughts and terror, and said the experiences became more difficult each time: “From my experience, each postpartum experience gets increasingly harder.”
The report quotes Morissette describing a period when she had “dipped into psychosis.” That is her account of what she experienced, not a separately confirmed diagnosis in the reporting. She also said she felt happy to be back after recovering.
Her public disclosures across the years
After her third birth
In 2019, Morissette wrote about postpartum depression and anxiety after the birth of her third child. She used the phrase “post partum activity” to describe her experience and wrote, “This culture is not set up to honor women properly after birth.” ABC News also reported that she had discussed postpartum depression after her first two births.

A 2020 Guardian interview described her experience of postpartum depression after every birth and her effort to speak openly about what was happening after her third child.
Looking back on its effect
In a 2025 Guardian interview, Morissette reflected that postpartum depression after all three births affected her availability to her children in the way she wanted.

Does the evidence support “multiple crippling diseases”?
No. The accounts reviewed document recurring postpartum depression and associated symptoms, including anxiety and the severe experiences Morissette described in the 2026 interview. They do not identify several separate, named diseases. A 2019 SELF interview mentions bloodwork, trauma-recovery work, appointments with doctors and a midwife, tests, surgeries and investigations, but does not name multiple chronic diseases. Investigations are not, by themselves, diagnoses.
That distinction matters: the evidence supports taking Morissette’s account of serious distress seriously without turning it into an unsupported list of conditions. Nor should “dipped into psychosis” be presented as a confirmed diagnosis; it is her reported description.

Did her die-hard fanbase largely miss it?
The available accounts cannot establish what Morissette’s fans knew, noticed or discussed. They show that she spoke publicly about postpartum depression and anxiety, including in 2019 and in later interviews, but provide no evidence measuring fan awareness. So the claim that her experience went largely unnoticed by her die-hard fanbase remains unverified.
