Netflix later called it the biggest title of the first half of 2026, reporting 146.9 million views during that six-month period. That does not establish it as the biggest movie in Netflix history.
What is Alan Ritchson’s new Netflix movie?
War Machine stars Ritchson, best known for playing Jack Reacher in Prime Video’s Reacher. The film follows elite recruits at a special operations boot camp who encounter a deadly extraterrestrial force. A March 2025 report by BGR also named Dennis Quaid, Jai Courtney, and Esai Morales in the cast and reported that principal photography began in Victoria, Australia, in September 2024.
What did Ritchson predict?
In a Wired video chat, Ritchson described the forthcoming film as Netflix’s likely biggest movie. BGR reproduced his statement as: “War Machine for Netflix [is coming soon.] I think, and you heard it here first, [it’s] probably gonna be the b- no, not probably. [It’s] gonna be the biggest movie that Netflix has ever had.” The bracketed wording and interrupted “b-” are part of BGR’s transcription. The remark was Ritchson’s promotional prediction in March 2025, not a Netflix forecast or a verified result.
How did War Machine perform on Netflix?
Netflix’s weekly Top 10 reports show a strong launch. Its March 10, 2026 report said War Machine debuted at No. 1 on the English-film list across 93 countries, with 39.3 million views for that reporting week. Netflix’s March 17 report said it remained No. 1 on the English-film list with 44.4 million views for that week. These are separate weekly figures, not lifetime totals.

In a report published July 16, 2026, Netflix listed War Machine at 146.9 million views and described it as the platform’s biggest title in the first half of 2026, covering January through June.
Does that make it Netflix’s biggest movie ever?
No all-time record is established by those figures. “Biggest title in the first half of 2026” is a time-bounded distinction; “biggest movie Netflix has ever had” is an all-time claim. Netflix’s cited first-half report substantiates the former, not the latter. The 146.9 million figure covers a six-month reporting period and should not be treated as a lifetime ranking against every Netflix film.
