What did AJ Tracey say the album was about?
Speaking to PerthNow in June 2025, Tracey described the album as reflecting grief, therapy, faith, family and healing, as well as his experience of being British as a mixed-race man. “I think this album is basically my experience of being British as a mixed-race man,” he said. These are his own descriptions of the record and his life, not clinical claims.
A break that became part of the story
Tracey told PerthNow that the album took three years to make. He said he had not planned a long break from music: “I never really intended to take a massive break. It kind of just sort of happened. I was just living life and trying to take a break and clear my mental state. And it just ended up being longer than I thought.” He connected that time away with personal growth, family, therapy and studying Islam.

“3rd Time Lucky” and family
Tracey linked “3rd Time Lucky” to his mother’s battle with cancer. Apple Music’s editorial likewise highlights grief and the personal backdrop to the track, while describing the album overall as energetic and stylistically varied. That is Apple Music’s characterization, rather than a claim of critical consensus.
Was AJ Tracey planning to come back to Australia?
In an interview published by PerthNow on 20 June 2025, Tracey expressed a hope to return for Australian summer festivals at the start of 2026. “I‘m excited for this new music to come out, and I’m excited to get touring, get to festivals, and hopefully get back to Australia soon,” he said. The comment was an expression of intent, not a confirmed tour announcement, and the interview gave no dates.
