In a joint interview with Variety, published June 5, 2025, he explained that he had taken some distance after filming to process saying goodbye to his character and the experience. Wood said she understood and questioned why people were focused on Instagram rather than the show and its characters.
What did Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins say?
Goggins directly rejected the speculation: “There is no feud. I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me.” He said his distance after filming was part of how he processed the end of the role and saying goodbye to Rick and Chelsea. Wood said she understood.
Wood pushed back on the attention paid to their social-media activity: “Why is everyone obsessing over Instagram? That is irrelevant. We don’t give a shite about Instagram.” She also said she loved working with Goggins. Their remarks appear in the joint Variety interview; they are the actors’ account of their relationship, not independent proof of every private detail.
How did the rumors start?
Online speculation centered largely on reports that Wood and Goggins no longer followed each other on Instagram, along with ambiguous comments. Those observations prompted discussion, but social-media follows do not establish whether two people have fallen out.

In early May 2025, Goggins declined to answer questions about Wood in a Times interview. Us Weekly’s May 2 report recounted the exchange and said representatives ended the interview. That is secondary reporting about the Times interview, not a transcript of it.
What happened before the joint interview?
By May 5, 2025, Vogue reported that the actors were following each other again. At the Met Gala, Wood told Entertainment Tonight, “I loved working with Walton. It was the best thing ever.” The follow status and her comment were dated public clues, not definitive evidence about a private relationship.

In the June 5 Variety interview, Goggins said the earlier Times exchange was not the place to speak for both of them because Wood was not there. He described the show experience as emotionally difficult and his post-filming distance as a way to say goodbye to Rick and Chelsea.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How does the show fit into the story?
Wood and Goggins played Chelsea and Rick, a fictional couple in The White Lotus Season 3. In the Variety conversation, they also discussed a love scene between their characters that was cut from the finale. That production detail helps explain the intensity of the characters’ story and the actors’ reflections on the series; it does not establish a real-life romance or a feud.
