After 1923, the next released stories in the Yellowstone universe are the modern-day series Yellowstone and its 2026 character-led continuations: Marshals, following Kayce Dutton, and Dutton Ranch, following Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. There is no confirmed release date here for a 1944 or 6666 series, so neither should be treated as the next scheduled show.
What comes after 1923?
It depends on whether you mean the Dutton family’s chronology or what to watch next. In the family timeline, Yellowstone is the modern-era story that follows the earlier generations. For new episodes centered on characters from Yellowstone, choose Marshals for Kayce or Dutton Ranch for Beth and Rip. Paramount’s Dutton family viewing guide places these series within the franchise.
How the released stories fit together
| Series | Place in the story | What it follows |
|---|---|---|
| 1883 | Earliest origin story in this group | James and Margaret Dutton’s journey west; Paramount describes it as a ten-episode miniseries. |
| 1923 | Early twentieth-century chapter | The Dutton family amid pandemics, drought, and the end of Prohibition. Paramount Global Content lists two seasons and 16 episodes total. |
| Yellowstone | Modern era | The five-season story centered on John Dutton III and his family; season 5B premiered November 10, 2024, according to Paramount Global Content. |
| Marshals | After Yellowstone | Kayce Dutton’s story continues as he joins a U.S. Marshals team in Montana. |
| Dutton Ranch | After Yellowstone | Beth and Rip begin a life in South Texas with their ward, Carter. |
Paramount’s franchise guide says Spencer and Alexandra welcome John Dutton II, the future father of John Dutton III. That connection links the earlier family stories to the central figure of the modern series.
Which 2026 series should you watch next?
Marshals: Kayce’s continuation
Marshals shifts the franchise toward a Western law-enforcement procedural. Kayce joins a U.S. Marshals team in Montana after the events of Yellowstone. Paramount says the CBS Original premiered March 1, 2026, and has been renewed for a second season. For viewers most interested in Kayce’s path after the main series, this is the direct next character thread.

Dutton Ranch: Beth and Rip in South Texas
Dutton Ranch follows Beth, Rip, and Carter as they start over in South Texas. Paramount says the series premiered May 15, 2026; Paramount Australia & New Zealand identifies its first season as nine episodes and Chad Feehan as creator and showrunner. Choose it to stay with Beth and Rip rather than follow Kayce into law enforcement.
Is 1944 or 6666 the next Yellowstone series?
Not on the evidence available from the cited announcements. The Associated Press described 1944 and 6666 as potential future spin-offs, without reporting a series order or release date. It also included The Madison among potential future spin-offs; that report alone does not establish it as the next Dutton-family chapter. Treat these titles as prospective, not as dated entries in a watch order.
