Published online on April 25, 2023, the essay first appeared in the magazine’s May/June 2023 issue. Kane described the experience in her own terms, linking it to a change in how she approached rest, food, movement and self-kindness.
What was Adelaide Kane’s Women’s Health feature?
Women’s Health published Kane’s first-person essay, “Actress Adelaide Kane Opens Up About Posing Nude For ‘WH’,” on April 25, 2023. Credited “By Adelaide Kane As told to Lydia Wang,” it originally appeared in the May/June 2023 issue. The issue was titled “Our Bodies Are Awesome”; PerthNow reported that Kane appeared alongside seven other women.
PerthNow described Kane posing draped over a tree trunk, with her tattoos and an anklet visible. The image was credited to Kimber Capriotti for Women’s Health. The reporting establishes the context and some details of the shoot, but not its production process beyond what was described.
Why did Adelaide Kane pose for the shoot?
Kane connected the shoot’s subject matter to her changing relationship with her body. In her essay, she described moving from caring for herself because her work demanded it to caring for herself for her own sake: “I need to take care of myself for me.”

She recounted physically demanding work on productions including Power Rangers, Teen Wolf, Reign and Once Upon a Time. Looking back on a demanding schedule for Reign, Kane said she learned she could not sacrifice sleep or skip meals in order to work on lines. Her account also describes accepting lighter movement and ordinary walks instead of treating only intense exercise as worthwhile.
In comments reported by PerthNow, Kane said, “I really love my shoulders,” and described preferring not to be restrictive with food: “My healthiest version of eating is when I can eat and enjoy my food.” She also said, “I don’t like being restrictive with my eating.” These are Kane’s personal reflections, not medical advice or a prescription for other people.

What did Kane say about her body and self-kindness?
Kane’s essay frames self-respect as a practice rather than a demand to meet a particular standard. “It takes real strength to prioritize being kind to yourself,” she wrote. Her recollections focus on listening to her own needs after periods of intense work and allowing rest, meals and gentler movement to have value.
The essay and interview provide Kane’s perspective; they do not establish medical guidance or make claims about what approach is right for everyone.
