Latisha Yacoub said at Adam Hunter’s funeral that the former West Coast Eagles player told her, two hours before his death, “this is our year.” The private conversation is known through Yacoub’s account at the service, as reported by 7NEWS.
What Hunter’s partner said at the funeral
Speaking at Hunter’s funeral in Bunbury, Western Australia, on 20 February 2025, Yacoub recalled their final conversation. As quoted by 7NEWS, she said: “And two hours before he took his last breath, he said to me, this is our year.”
That wording and the two-hour detail are Yacoub’s recollection, shared at the service. A separate report also described her speaking about their final conversation, but the reports establish that she made the statement—not independent confirmation of what was said privately.
Yacoub described Hunter as her “lover, my best friend, my soulmate and the absolute love of my life.” She said they had started seeing each other 23 years earlier, spoke of the relationship’s ups and downs, and recalled plans to buy a house and marry.
