What Ada Nicodemou said about life in 2024
In a profile published by The West Australian on October 6, 2024, Nicodemou described a life full of competing demands. “I’m always busy: busy doing a million and one things, but look, I’m actually really happy, and in a really good place at the moment,” she said.

That interview placed her son’s coming transition to high school alongside her continuing acting career and changes in her personal life. Those details describe her circumstances at the time of the interview, rather than a current account of her family’s stage.
A character who became part of her life
Nicodemou had played Leah Patterson on Home and Away since 2000; the 2024 profile marked 24 years in the role. She described the closeness between her own life and the character’s: “Leah has become a part of my life as well.” The familiarity can make the character feel like another family, she said: “It’s weird — it is like I have got these two families.”

Acting was not, she recalled, a carefully planned destination. “I never even really wanted to be an actor, I sort of just fell into it, and kept going,” she told the paper. The profile traces her early work, including Heartbreak High, before her arrival on Home and Away.
How a long friendship with James Stewart became a relationship
Nicodemou and Stewart had worked together for years on Home and Away, where she plays Leah and he plays Justin Morgan, her character’s husband. In July 2024, speaking on 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin, Nicodemou described the off-screen relationship as unexpected. Pedestrian.TV quoted her: “We’ve known each other for a very long time, like 25 years… It was very unexpected but we’re happy and it’s really lovely.”

She also said the couple kept their work professional and separate from their relationship: “We’re professional [and] we keep it all very separate.” Nicodemou added that they had always been comfortable working together. Going public in 2024
The West Australian noted that the relationship became public in 2024, including the pair’s appearance together at the TV Week Logie Awards. Mamamia later reported that they chose the 2024 Logies to go public as a couple. In a No Filter episode listing published September 29, 2024, Nicodemou’s conversation with Mia Freedman was described as covering how she and her on-screen partner first kissed off screen, as well as relationship endings, blended families, paparazzi and tabloid culture, ageing and beauty standards. What she said about the relationship in 2025
In April 2025, 7NEWS reported Nicodemou’s reflections on the couple’s first year together. Speaking to Stellar, she said, “It’s been a really lovely year together,” adding that although she did not like posting much about them online, she was proud of the year they had shared and wanted to acknowledge it. On Sunrise, she put it simply: “We are happy. We are together.”
She described their working relationship as professional and respectful, with a boundary between the set and their private life. The 7NEWS report also quoted her saying paparazzi attention was annoying, particularly when children were photographed. On February 14, 2026, Mamamia reported that Nicodemou and Stewart had announced their engagement on Instagram; the article said the post appeared early on February 15. Mamamia reproduced the caption “She said yes…” and reported that Stewart’s daughter was present. These details are attributed to Mamamia’s account of the announcement, rather than independent verification of the original post.
The same article quotes Nicodemou describing the blending of their families as “really seamless” and saying each parent prioritized their own child. The engagement report and family comments are in Mamamia’s February 2026 article. This is the latest dated relationship update covered here; it does not establish arrangements beyond what that report says.
