Among them were brothers James and Andy McKay, who had travelled from Scotland to see the band and wanted to pay their respects to the singer whose early years helped shape AC/DC.

PerthNow reporters Caitlin Vinci and Kellie Balaam described a handful of fans going to Fremantle Cemetery ahead of the show. Their account did not give an attendance total or establish that visitors came from multiple continents that day. It profiled James McKay and his brother Andy, who had flown from Scotland.
James told PerthNow that the brothers had seen AC/DC in Scotland, England, Ireland and the United States during the preceding 18 months, and wanted to see them in Australia as well. He said: “We appreciate that AC/DC is one of the world’s most famous bands and it’s only right that we recognise the importance that Bon Scott had in the band’s formative years.”
He also explained why they went to the cemetery: “And given that we’ve travelled all this way we wanted to pay our respects at his grave, to his family, and be there to see the grave itself.” PerthNow’s report covered the visit on 4 December 2025.

Where Bon Scott is buried
Bon Scott’s ashes are interred at Fremantle Cemetery, following his death in London in 1980. The Western Australian Heritage Council identifies his memorial as a plaque and bench in the cemetery’s Garden of Remembrance. The council says the place is valued by Scott’s fans and has become a pilgrimage destination for AC/DC fans from around the world.
The heritage record places the memorial in the cemetery’s northwest area. Its directions are to enter at the Cortege Entrance off Carrington Street, turn left and follow the path to the rose garden. Cemetery access and conditions can change, so visitors should confirm current arrangements with the cemetery before travelling. The heritage listing also notes that cemetery grounds staff routinely remove items left at graves; visitors should not assume that flowers or other tributes will remain in place.

The Heritage Council of Western Australia’s record describes the memorial and its setting.
The cemetery memorial and Fremantle statue are different sites
Scott’s grave memorial is at Fremantle Cemetery. The Bon Scott Statue is a separate attraction at Fishing Boat Harbour. Visit Fremantle says the statue was unveiled in 2008, is free to visit, and points fans toward the cemetery memorial as another place connected with Scott. AC/DC played Optus Stadium as part of the Power Up tour
AC/DC performed at Optus Stadium on the evening of 4 December 2025 as part of the Power Up tour. The West Australian reported that more than 95,000 fans were expected across two Perth shows. That was the paper’s reported forecast, not a verified final attendance figure for either show or the combined dates. The West Australian’s concert coverage confirms the Thursday performance.

Born Ronald Belford Scott, Bon Scott became AC/DC’s lead singer in 1974. ABC reports that Scott and the band released six studio albums together, including Highway to Hell. That history helps explain why fans may include a cemetery visit in a concert trip: for the McKay brothers, paying respects acknowledged Scott’s influence on the band’s formative years.

In separate coverage of a Fremantle gathering for what would have been Scott’s 80th birthday in July 2026, ABC quoted Fremantle mayor Ben Lawver saying: “Forty-six years after his passing, people still make the journey here because of what he represents.” That later event is distinct from the fans’ visit before the December 2025 concert.
