For the weekend of March 28–30, 2025, Tom’s Guide highlighted nine new movies and shows across Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+, Hulu and Max. The list mixes complete-season drops with premieres and partial season releases, so the best pick depends on both your preferred genre and how much time you want to spend watching. These service listings are a dated snapshot, not a guide to current availability; catalogs can change and vary by region.
How to choose what to watch this weekend
The March 28–30 roundup was an editorial selection, not a ranked list. Its most practical distinction is episode commitment: some series arrived with every episode available, while others had only a premiere or a small batch ready to watch. The counts below refer specifically to the roundup’s March 28, 2025 snapshot.
- For a movie: choose Holland for a mystery-thriller or The Life List for a story about family, romance and rediscovering old ambitions.
- For a complete series drop: the roundup listed all four episodes of Side Quest, all 10 of Mid-Century Modern, and all eight episodes of Survival of the Thickest, season 2.
- For a first taste of a series: it listed two episodes of The Studio, four of Bosch: Legacy, and one each of Paul American and The Cleaning Lady, season 4.
New and returning shows
The Studio — Apple TV+
This Hollywood satire, co-created by and starring Seth Rogen, follows Matt Remick as he takes charge of Continental Studios. He has to navigate the competing demands of studio executives, creatives and corporate leadership. The roundup listed episodes 1 and 2 as available that weekend, a short entry point for viewers looking for comedy about the movie business.
Side Quest — Apple TV+
A spinoff of Mythic Quest, this series tells self-contained stories about the players, developers and superfans whose lives are affected by a video game. All four episodes were listed as streaming in the March 28 roundup, making it the complete short-series option for a weekend viewer interested in gaming culture.
