April 2024 brought a varied slate of Spring 2024 anime: action, romance, fantasy, crime comedy and a returning isekai favorite. This is a curated watchlist, not an official ranking; the picks favor distinctive premises and a range of tones. The list includes both series debuts and one clearly labeled returning season, and its streaming details reflect Kodansha USA’s Spring 2024 listings—not a guarantee of availability in every country today.

Kaiju No. 8 is included as a Spring 2024 candidate because U-NEXT’s Japanese schedule included it; that release does not establish availability on services elsewhere. Its start date and a streaming platform outside that Japanese context are not specified here. For the other entries, show details and listed dates come from Kodansha USA’s Spring 2024 roundup.
Which show fits your mood?
For action and a school-fighter setting: WIND BREAKER
Haruka Sakura arrives at a school known for its fighters and wants to become a hero his town needs. Its delinquent-school backdrop makes this the straightforward pick for viewers after high-energy fights and a young lead with a purpose beyond proving himself. Kodansha USA lists CloverWorks as the studio and Crunchyroll as the service for its Spring 2024 entry.
#1 Best Overall
For a superhero story turned inside out: Go! Go! Loser Ranger!
Instead of following the celebrated heroes, the series centers on a surviving monster who rebels against the Rangers from within. That reversal gives the familiar weekly battle premise a satirical angle. Kodansha USA lists Yostar Pictures as the studio and Hulu as the service.
For an adult crime comedy: The Fable
A highly skilled hitman is ordered to live as an ordinary person and not kill anyone. The tension between his lethal profession and the rules of everyday life sets up a crime comedy-drama rather than a conventional action hero story. Kodansha USA lists Tezuka Productions and Hulu, and marks the title 18+ on its page.
Rank #2
For a school romance with a character-driven start: A Condition Called Love
After Hotaru offers a classmate an umbrella following his public breakup, a small act of kindness becomes the starting point for a school romance. It suits viewers who prefer relationships and character dynamics to a high-concept fantasy hook. Kodansha USA lists East Fish Studio and Crunchyroll.
For romance built around music: Whisper Me a Love Song
A student develops feelings for her senpai after hearing her band perform. The band setting gives this romance a musical center, making it a distinct option alongside the more conventional school-romance setup of A Condition Called Love. Kodansha USA lists Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts as studios and HIDIVE as the service.
Rank #3
- This product will be an excellent pick for you
- Easy to maintain
- This product comes in a proper packaging
For magical fantasy and reincarnation: I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince
A former sorcerer is reincarnated as a prince and gets another life in which to pursue magical study. The appeal is its magic-focused premise: a protagonist with prior experience can devote his new circumstances to learning and refining his abilities. Kodansha USA lists Tsumugi Akita Animation Lab and Crunchyroll.
For an established fantasy world: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, season 3
This is a returning season, not a new series. It is the pick for viewers already invested in Rimuru’s world; newcomers should expect continuity from earlier seasons rather than a fresh starting point. Kodansha USA lists studio 8bit and Crunchyroll for the season.
Rank #4
For a monster-scale Spring 2024 debut: Kaiju No. 8
Kaiju No. 8 appeared on U-NEXT’s Japanese Spring 2024 schedule. That is enough to place it in the season’s broader conversation, but not to make a claim here about where it streamed in other countries. U-NEXT announced more than 40 works for its own Spring 2024 catalog, a platform-specific count rather than a total for the season.

Streaming rights are regional, and a 2024 lineup is a historical snapshot rather than a current catalog check. Kodansha USA’s roundup names Crunchyroll for WIND BREAKER, A Condition Called Love, 7th Prince and Slime season 3; Hulu for Go! Go! Loser Ranger! and The Fable; and HIDIVE for Whisper Me a Love Song. Check your local service catalog before subscribing or planning a watch. U-NEXT’s schedule describes its Japanese service, so its listings should not be carried over to other regions.

- Height: 11.00 in. Width: 5.00 in
For season-level context, Crunchyroll’s Spring 2024 lineup announcement was updated in April 2024 to add Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc. U-NEXT’s March 25, 2024 announcement published its Japanese schedule and said its lineup included more than 40 works; it also noted that titles and free availability could change without notice.
A manga continuation for one specific series
For viewers who watched the previous season of Shangri-La Frontier and want to continue in print, Kodansha says the story picks up from Volume 7 of the manga. This is a title-specific continuation point, not a general recommendation for the other anime on this list. See Kodansha USA’s roundup for its note about the volume.
