In Digital Trends’ December 19, 2023 ranking, Karol G and Shakira’s “TQG” took the top spot, with 899 million views reported for 2023. The list is a dated editorial snapshot—not a live view counter or an official YouTube year-end chart—and it includes a remix of a song originally released in 2021.
The seven videos in Digital Trends’ 2023 ranking
The figures below are the view totals Digital Trends reported in its December 19, 2023 article. They are historical figures, not current cumulative totals.
| Rank | Video and artist | Views reported for 2023 | Context in Digital Trends’ article |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | “TQG” — Karol G and Shakira | 899 million | The title stands for Te Quedó Grande. Digital Trends describes the track as an empowerment-oriented diss track with reggaetón influence. |
| 2 | “La Bebe (Remix)” — Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma | 704 million | The original song was released in 2021; the remix gained renewed popularity in 2023. |
| 3 | “BZRP Music Sessions #53” — Shakira and Bizarrap | 661 million | The article calls it a major 2023 hit and notes that its lyrics target Shakira’s former partner. |
| 4 | “Flowers” — Miley Cyrus | 652 million | Digital Trends discusses public interpretations of the song’s relationship references; those interpretations do not establish private facts. |
| 5 | “UN X100TO” — Grupo Frontera and Bad Bunny | 637 million | The collaboration draws on regional Mexican music. |
| 6 | “Ella Baila Sola” — Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma | 449 million | Digital Trends attributes much of the song’s popularity to TikTok virality and calls it the first regional Mexican song to reach the Billboard Top 10. |
| 7 | “Flower” — Jisoo | 439 million | The article presents it as a successful K-pop solo release and Jisoo’s first top-ten hit. |
Digital Trends is the source for the ranking, counts, and contextual descriptions in this table. In particular, the two similarly named entries are different songs: Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” and Jisoo’s “Flower.”
What this ranking counts—and what it does not
Digital Trends presents an editorial list of popular videos and does not document a reproducible counting method. Its figures should not be treated as an official YouTube chart or as a definitive global year-end tally. Nor does “videos of 2023” mean every video was released that year: “La Bebe (Remix)” rose in popularity in 2023, although the original song dates to 2021.

#1 Best Overall
YouTube’s official charts use distinct measures. Its Top Music Video charts rank official music performances by video view count. Its Top Songs charts instead combine views from official videos, lyric videos, and user-made videos using the official song; YouTube says paid advertising views do not count toward its charts. Digital Trends does not say that it used YouTube’s chart methodology, so its ranking should not be merged with either official chart category.

A ranking can change with its time window, geography, and definition of a video. A current cumulative-view table, such as Kworb’s Most Viewed Music Videos Published in 2023, counts videos published during 2023 and displays totals that continue to grow. That is a different measure from Digital Trends’ historical 2023 figures.

Geography matters, too. YouTube’s 2023 Brazil year-in-review reported that eight of the ten videos in Brazil’s Top Music Videos list were by sertanejo artists. A country-specific chart is not interchangeable with a global editorial ranking. The video formats included also matter: a Eurovision-focused 2023 countdown, for example, aggregated views across official music videos and Eurovision live, preview, national-final, and contest performances. Always check what a list counts before comparing its ranks or totals.
