Short answer: the six names in the May 28, 2021 Fossbytes article were 1337x, The Pirate Bay, ExtraTorrent, RARBG, LimeTorrents, and Kickass Torrent. They should be treated as a historical snapshot—not as six currently working, safe, legal, or recommended websites. Torrent domains, mirrors, indexing practices, availability, and legal status change frequently, and unauthorized downloading or uploading of television episodes can infringe copyright.
This article preserves the historical information while removing the misleading certainty from the original “100% Working” headline. It does not provide active domains, mirror lists, proxy instructions, magnet links, or search tactics for obtaining copyrighted TV episodes.
The six sites named in the 2021 article
Fossbytes published its list on May 28, 2021. The article said its writers had checked the six entries at that time and assigned them different editorial descriptions. That claim was time-sensitive even when published, and it is not evidence that the sites remain available or trustworthy.
| Historical entry | How the 2021 article positioned it | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 1337x | Presented as an overall choice | Historical description only; no current availability or safety claim |
| The Pirate Bay | Presented as a popular option | Popularity does not establish authorization, legality, or security |
| ExtraTorrent | Associated with English-language TV content | Its inclusion reflects the 2021 article, not a current recommendation |
| RARBG | Associated with anime TV content | Historical editorial labeling; not a current status report |
| LimeTorrents | Highlighted for search-engine functionality | A search feature does not verify a file’s copyright status or safety |
| Kickass Torrent | Presented as easy to use | Lookalike domains and mirrors make historical names especially unreliable |
The labels above describe how the Fossbytes article framed its entries. They are not objective rankings, endorsements, or evidence that any particular file on any listed service was authorized by a rightsholder.

Why “100% Working” is not a reliable current claim
“100% Working” was part of the original headline, but it should be read as a publisher-reported point-in-time assertion from 2021. Torrent portals can disappear, change domains, be copied by unrelated operators, or become dominated by deceptive advertising. A site that loads successfully is not necessarily the genuine service described in an old article, and a downloadable torrent file is not necessarily authentic or safe.
For that reason, this page intentionally does not reproduce active addresses or recommend mirrors. A current-looking domain is not proof of continuity, ownership, editorial quality, or lawful distribution. The historical list also should not be interpreted as a verified ranking of the best services available at the time.
A separate 2021 popularity list used a different method
It is easy to combine every torrent-site list from 2021 into one supposed ranking, but that would be inaccurate. TorrentFreak’s early-2021 popularity survey measured a different thing and explicitly said it did not recommend or endorse the sites.
Its top ten were The Pirate Bay, YTS, 1337x, NYAA, RARBG, FitGirl Repacks, LimeTorrents, EZTV, TorrentGalaxy, and Zooqle. Four names overlapped with the Fossbytes list: The Pirate Bay, 1337x, RARBG, and LimeTorrents. ExtraTorrent and Kickass Torrent appeared in the Fossbytes article but not in TorrentFreak’s early-2021 top ten. Conversely, YTS, NYAA, FitGirl Repacks, EZTV, TorrentGalaxy, and Zooqle appeared in TorrentFreak’s survey but not in the six-site Fossbytes article.

The difference matters: Fossbytes was a six-site, TV-focused editorial list, while TorrentFreak’s article was a traffic-oriented popularity survey with a broader scope. Neither methodology proves that a portal is legal, safe, reliable, or suitable for downloading a particular program.
Why TV torrent searches were prominent in 2021
There was substantial piracy interest around major television releases during this period. TorrentFreak reported that WandaVision was the most-pirated TV show released in 2021, followed by Loki and The Witcher, using estimated sample data from several sources and public BitTorrent trackers. The report cautioned that BitTorrent represented only part of the wider piracy ecosystem and that its ranking counted individual episodes, which could underrepresent season packs.
That report helps explain the commercial attention around TV torrent searches in 2021. It does not show that any portal in either list had permission to distribute those programs, nor does it make historical popularity a measure of present-day safety.
BitTorrent is a technology, not a TV catalog
BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer distribution protocol. A torrent client—such as the software distributed through qBittorrent’s official download page—is a tool that can transfer files. The tool itself does not determine whether the material being transferred is authorized.

Lawful uses can include distributing public-domain works, openly licensed material, Linux distributions, creator-authorized files, and other content shared with permission. The same technology can also be used to upload or download unauthorized television episodes. The relevant question is not whether a file has a torrent extension or whether a client is legal; it is whether the rightsholder authorized the distribution.
Copyright risk in the United States
For U.S. readers, the U.S. Copyright Office explains that uploading or downloading copyrighted works through peer-to-peer networks without authorization can infringe the owner’s reproduction or distribution rights. The Office describes statutory damages of up to $30,000 per infringed work, potentially increasing to $150,000 for willful infringement, along with possible attorney fees.
Those figures are U.S.-specific and describe statutory limits, not a prediction of what every user will pay. Laws and procedures differ by country, and fair-use or other exceptions are fact-specific; they should not be assumed to authorize ordinary unauthorized downloads of TV episodes. The safest general rule is to use a source that clearly has permission to provide the program.
A VPN does not change that analysis. Concealing an IP address or changing the apparent location of a connection is not a copyright license and does not make infringement lawful.

Security risks beyond copyright
The Copyright Office also warns that peer-to-peer downloads can expose users to viruses, unexpected material, and spyware. Torrent files and download buttons can be mislabeled, bundled with unwanted software, or surrounded by malicious advertising. A site’s apparent uptime is therefore not a meaningful security certification.
- Do not assume that a filename, thumbnail, uploader name, comments, or apparent file size proves authenticity.
- Do not run unfamiliar executables or “codec” installers offered alongside a video.
- Do not treat a VPN, antivirus product, or torrent client as permission to copy copyrighted programming.
- Keep operating-system and security software updated, and prefer sources that clearly identify their distribution rights.
- If a download has already caused suspicious behavior, disconnect the affected device from the network, update security tools from a trusted source, and seek qualified technical help before entering passwords or financial information.
How to find a TV show legally instead
If the real goal is simply to locate a particular series, use a legal availability guide rather than an old torrent-site list. JustWatch’s U.S. service can help you find where to legally watch a TV show, including streaming, rental, and purchase options. Its listings include filters such as provider, price, release year, and genre.
Availability is country-specific and can change when licensing agreements expire. Check the country selector and the provider’s own page before paying or assuming that a title is included in a subscription. Depending on the program, legitimate options may include a subscription service, a one-time rental, a digital purchase, an official broadcaster or network app, a library service, or licensed DVD and Blu-ray media.
For documentary viewers, the same approach applies: search the documentary title in a legal availability guide, then confirm the result with the broadcaster, platform, distributor, museum, archive, or filmmaker that supplies it. A documentary’s educational or public-interest subject matter does not automatically place it in the public domain.

What readers should take away from the historical list
- The names are historical. They are the six entries in a May 2021 Fossbytes article, not a current recommendation list.
- “Working” was time-limited. A 2021 check cannot establish present availability, authenticity, or safety.
- The lists had different purposes. Fossbytes’ TV-focused list should not be merged with TorrentFreak’s broader popularity survey.
- Popularity is not permission. Traffic, search visibility, and a large index do not establish authorization from a copyright owner.
- Technology does not settle legality. BitTorrent can distribute permitted material or infringing material; the rights attached to the specific file are decisive.
- Legal discovery is the useful modern alternative. Use an availability guide and authorized services instead of relying on volatile torrent domains.
Frequently Asked Questions
Were these six sites verified as working today?
No. The six names come from a Fossbytes article published on May 28, 2021. Its “100% Working” wording was a dated, publisher-reported assertion and should not be treated as a current availability or safety claim.
Does using BitTorrent automatically violate copyright?
No. BitTorrent is a distribution protocol and can be used for public-domain, openly licensed, or creator-authorized material. Downloading or uploading copyrighted TV episodes without permission can infringe copyright.
Does a VPN make TV torrenting legal?
No. A VPN may alter how a connection appears to websites, but it does not grant permission to copy or distribute copyrighted programming and is not a legal defense.
How can I find where a show is legally available?
Use a legal availability guide such as JustWatch, select the relevant country, and verify the result with the listed streaming, rental, purchase, broadcaster, or distributor service. Catalogs and prices can change.

The six sites were 1337x, The Pirate Bay, ExtraTorrent, RARBG, LimeTorrents, and Kickass Torrent—names recorded in a 2021 Fossbytes list, not dependable current recommendations. Because availability, security, and legal status change, readers should avoid treating the old “100% Working” claim as fact and use authorized services or a legal availability guide instead.
