2. It is the season’s penultimate episode
Season 4 has eight episodes, making this the final installment before the finale. Several existing storylines move toward a collision here, while important stakes remain unresolved for episode 8.
3. Vought turns Christmas into propaganda
The episode’s Avenue V Christmas special is more than seasonal spectacle. Its message encourages children to regard people close to them as possible threats, making Vought’s propaganda part of the plot rather than background decoration. Rotten Tomatoes’ episode listing identifies the special in its synopsis, and TheWrap’s recap describes its coded message.

#1 Best Overall
- The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under Homelander's muscly thumb as he consolidates his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca's son, and his job as The Boys' leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they must find a way to work together and save the world before it's too late.
4. The hunt for the leak intensifies
Homelander and Firecracker investigate who has been passing information to the Boys. That search puts Vought’s internal mistrust in the foreground and raises the pressure around the people who work closest to Homelander.
5. The team faces personal and political pressure too
The leak investigation is only one thread. The Boys’ strained relationships continue alongside the danger surrounding the political plot, so the episode’s tension comes from competing threats rather than a single mission.

6. The ending sets up the finale
Expect the final stretch to change what characters—and viewers—can safely trust. The episode ends on a reveal that carries directly into the season finale; avoiding details beforehand preserves the impact.
