For a varied 2025 Christmas watchlist, consider these five picks: a Jonas Brothers musical comedy, a family action-comedy, a sardonic family comedy, a London-set romantic heist, and a theatrical slasher. They are one editor’s recommendations—not a definitive ranking or a list of five streaming releases. The titles, platforms and descriptions below follow Rory Mellon’s Tom’s Guide watchlist, updated November 22, 2025.
Five Christmas movies to add to your 2025 watchlist
| Movie | Where to watch | What it offers | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Very Jonas Christmas Movie | Disney+ | A musical comedy in which the Jonas Brothers play heightened versions of themselves and try to get home to New York for Christmas after a London tour. | Viewers after band humor, music and a race-home premise. |
| The Family Plan 2 | Apple TV | Dan Morgan’s European family holiday is disrupted by an enemy from his past. Apple’s announcement describes a trip involving bank heists and car chases, and set its premiere for November 21, 2025. | Viewers who want holiday hijinks mixed with action. It is a sequel. |
| Oh. What. Fun. | Prime Video | Michelle Pfeiffer plays Claire Clauster, an underappreciated matriarch who steps away from the family’s holiday chaos for an adventure of her own. Amazon listed December 3, 2025, as its Prime Video date. | Viewers who prefer family comedy with a sardonic edge. |
| Jingle Bell Heist | Netflix | Two financially struggling workers plan to rob a London department store on Christmas Eve, with romance complicating the caper. Netflix’s fall slate listed November 26, 2025, and named director Michael Fimognari and the principal cast. | Viewers looking for a romantic comedy crossed with a crime caper. |
| Silent Night, Deadly Night | Theaters | A remake of the 1984 slasher, described by Tom’s Guide as a violent seasonal horror story. The guide listed a December 12, 2025, theatrical start. | Horror fans; this is the list’s clear choice for viewers who want a slasher rather than cozy holiday fare. |
The genre and audience descriptions are a practical comparison of the films’ premises, not formal classifications from their distributors. The theatrical date for Silent Night, Deadly Night is attributed here to Tom’s Guide; unlike the other dates above, it was not independently confirmed by a distributor source in the cited material.

Pick by the kind of Christmas movie you want
- For music and self-aware celebrity humor: A Very Jonas Christmas Movie.
- For action and a family-on-the-road setup: The Family Plan 2.
- For a family comedy centered on an overlooked parent: Oh. What. Fun..
- For romance with a criminal scheme: Jingle Bell Heist.
- For seasonal horror: Silent Night, Deadly Night.
The selection spans new stories as well as a sequel and a remake, and it includes a theatrical release alongside streaming titles. It is therefore better treated as a mixed-genre watchlist than as five interchangeable holiday comedies.
2025 release dates are not a guarantee of current availability
The release information is historical: Apple announced The Family Plan 2 for November 21, 2025; Netflix listed Jingle Bell Heist for November 26; and Amazon listed Oh. What. Fun. for December 3. A release announcement does not establish that a film is still in a service’s catalog in every country in October 2026. Check the local service listing before you plan to watch, and confirm whether access is included or requires a separate rental or other payment. Catalog rights and availability can differ by territory and change over time.

- The Herdmans are absolutely the worst kids in the world. They lie, steal & bully?and now they?ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant. Grace (Judy Greer) is directing the performance for the very first time, but she and her family are in over their heads, especially against a town that wants the Herdmans out. But the play?s mischievous stars might just teach the town the true meaning of Christmas.
Here, “Apple TV” refers to Apple’s service, as named in its announcement, not a claim about Apple TV hardware. Release details are also listed by Netflix Tudum, About Amazon and Apple TV Press.
