Onyx Storm is Empyrean Book 3, and no Book 4 title, release date, or official synopsis has been announced on the author and publisher pages reviewed as of October 4, 2026. The newly released Threshing Day is a companion story collection—not the next numbered novel or the continuation of Violet and Xaden’s story.
Is there a release date for the fourth Empyrean book?
No confirmed title or publication date for Book 4 is listed on Rebecca Yarros’s official series page or the publisher pages reviewed. The author’s page identifies Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm as Books 1, 2, and 3, respectively: Rebecca Yarros’s Empyrean series page. A July 2026 overview from Marie Claire likewise reported that the names and dates for Books 4 and 5 remained unknown: Marie Claire’s Book 4 overview.
That means there is no verified date to count down to. Any projected year or fan estimate should be treated as speculation unless Yarros or her publisher confirms it.
Is Threshing Day Book 4?
No. Threshing Day is a companion collection of thirteen stories set around Basgiath, including a story about Xaden. Its official site gives September 29, 2026 as its availability date and describes it as “A companion collection, not the continuation of Violet and Xaden’s story after Onyx Storm.” The author’s site labels it “now available.” See the official Threshing Day site and the author’s Threshing Day page.

What will Book 4 be about?
No official synopsis for the fourth novel appears on the author or publisher pages reviewed. Without one, specific claims about the plot, characters’ fates, or where the story will go after Onyx Storm are not confirmed. Past comments about possible story elements, as summarized in secondary coverage, should not be mistaken for a current Book 4 synopsis.

Threshing Day is a companion collection rather than Book 4; read it as additional Empyrean material, not as the next step in the numbered sequence.
