You can make a recognizable witch costume with dark clothes, a pointed hat and a broom or wand. From that simple base, change the silhouette, color accents and makeup to make the look cute, dramatic, vintage-inspired or character-inspired. Choose a witch costume by time, materials and mood
Start with what you already own: a dark dress or a top and skirt, then add a pointed hat and one memorable accessory. Quick, classic and easy-to-adapt looks
- Classic pointed-hat witch. Pair a dark dress with a pointed hat and broom for the instantly recognizable silhouette.
- Last-minute witch. Use dark clothes already in your closet, then add a hat and wand. This is the simplest option when there is little time for crafting.

- Ruffled blouse and full skirt. A ruffled blouse gives a plain skirt a more theatrical, old-fashioned feel.
- Cape-and-dress storybook witch. Layer a cape over a dress to create a sweeping outline; choose a shorter cape if the wearer needs more freedom of movement.

- Paper-craft pointed hat. PBS KIDS describes making a hat from a paper plate and construction paper.
