2026 brings Yellowstone fans two very different stories on screen: Dutton Ranch continues Beth and Rip’s story, while Marshals puts Kayce Dutton in a procedural. Paramount has also named 1944 as a later anthology chapter, though its release details remain unannounced. The headline arrival, Dutton Ranch, premiered May 15, 2026.
Why 2026 matters for Yellowstone fans
The year marks a return to the franchise in more than one format. Dutton Ranch follows characters viewers already know into a new chapter; Marshals shifts the focus to a CBS procedural built around Kayce Dutton. 1944 points toward another historical story, but is less fully defined.

The original Yellowstone episode cycle most recently listed by Paramount Global Content is season 5B, which premiered November 10, 2024. The 2026 projects therefore offer different ways into the franchise rather than a single, unified continuation.
Is Dutton Ranch the Beth and Rip spinoff?
Yes. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser return as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler in Dutton Ranch, a direct character continuation of Yellowstone. They try to build a future on a small ranch in South Texas while facing a rival ranch. Executive producer Christina Alexandra Voros summed up the uncertainty around their new life this way: “Life is going to find them.”

When it premiered and how the season was released
Dutton Ranch premiered globally on May 15, 2026, on Paramount+ and Paramount Network. It launched with two episodes and then moved to a weekly release; season one has nine episodes.
How large was the debut?
Paramount reported 12.9 million global viewers in the first seven days, calling it the biggest original-series debut in Paramount+ history. In an August 2026 filing, Paramount Skydance Corporation separately reported a season average of 13.4 million views per episode. These are two company-reported measures with different descriptions, not interchangeable audience figures.

What is Marshals about, and is Kayce Dutton in it?
Yes: Marshals brings Kayce Dutton into a procedural format. Paramount’s 2026 investor material describes it as the Yellowstone franchise’s first procedural. That makes it a different kind of extension from Dutton Ranch, which centers on the ongoing lives of Beth and Rip.
The published CBS fall schedule places Marshals on Sundays at 8 p.m. Paramount’s studio slate also lists Paramount+ distribution. The cited schedule and slate establish those outlets, but do not specify further streaming timing or a complete release pattern.
Is 1944 actually happening?
Paramount’s 2026 investor material names 1944 as a later anthology chapter in the Yellowstone universe. That establishes it as an announced project, but the cited official material does not confirm a release date, cast or episode count. It is best understood as a future chapter with key production and viewing details still unspecified, rather than a series with a confirmed launch plan.
Is The Madison part of Yellowstone?
The Madison appears alongside Yellowstone-related projects on Paramount’s 2026 studio slate, but that listing does not call it a Yellowstone continuation. Its presence on the same slate is not enough to establish a story connection, so it should not be described as a Dutton-family sequel or spinoff on the basis of that source alone.

What to watch first
- For the direct Beth-and-Rip follow-up: watch Dutton Ranch. Its central characters return from Yellowstone, and its South Texas ranch setup is the clearest continuation among the 2026 projects.
- For a different genre with Kayce: choose Marshals. It is the franchise’s procedural entry, with the CBS schedule listing it Sundays at 8 p.m.
- For a historical anthology story: keep 1944 on the future watchlist, but note that the cited announcement does not provide a date or cast.
There is no release date or viewing order for 1944 to add to that guide based on the cited official announcement. The Madison’s appearance on a studio slate likewise does not establish where it belongs in a Yellowstone viewing order.
