Robert Irwin was Australia’s most popular broadcast personality in the 2025 Australian Talent Index, leading the ranking for the second consecutive year. Andy Lee placed second, ahead of Hamish Blake, while Rebecca Gibney was the highest-ranked woman, in fourth place overall.
Who topped Australia’s 2025 broadcast personality ranking?
The 2025 report named Irwin the country’s most popular broadcast personality. His recognition is for the 2025 ranking; it should not be read as a claim about the latest ranking available in October 2026.
| 2025 result | Personality |
|---|---|
| Top broadcast personality | Robert Irwin |
| Second overall | Andy Lee |
| Third overall | Hamish Blake |
| Highest-ranked woman; fourth overall | Rebecca Gibney |
Irwin was also reported as the most popular among both male and female audiences. That is a result by audience gender, distinct from the overall ranking.
What else did the report find?
- Radio: Amanda Keller ranked first among radio personalities, followed by Carrie Bickmore and David Hughes.
- Controversy: Kyle Sandilands was named the most controversial broadcaster.

How does the Australian Talent Index rank personalities?
According to RadioInfo’s account of the 2025 report, Lewers Research surveyed more than 4,000 Australians, who rated more than 500 personalities. The Australian Talent Index score runs from -100 to +100. It is calculated by subtracting the proportion of respondents who disliked a personality from the proportion who liked or loved them.
The study also collected respondents’ words about personalities, classified them using a library of more than 20,000 words and phrases, and used word association to examine instinctive reactions. The resulting score is an audience sentiment measure—not a measure of professional skill or objective quality.
Popularity, awareness and brand fit are different measures
The Talent Corp report page describes dimensions including overall and category rankings, awareness, sentiment, audience gender and industry-sector fit. A high sentiment result does not by itself mean the personality is widely recognised or the best fit for a particular brand category. The report is presented as one input for decisions by brands, broadcasters, agencies, casting agents and production studios, not as a guarantee of commercial performance.
What the published methodology does not establish
The published descriptions do not provide the full questionnaire, survey field dates, weighting details or a margin of error. Without those details, readers should avoid treating small differences in ranking as proof of a meaningful gap in audience opinion.
What Robert Irwin said about the recognition
In a statement quoted by RadioInfo on 20 October 2025, Irwin said: “I’m incredibly honoured to be recognised like this, it’s truly humbling. At the end of the day, it’s all about using every opportunity to share my passion for wildlife and conservation. If that message is reaching people that it ordinarily wouldn’t, then I feel like I’m doing my job.”

No such conclusion is established by the 2025 results. Talent Corp’s product page advertises a 2026 summary report, but the available page information does not establish its winners or provide enough publication detail to replace the 2025 ranking described here.
