The dinner took place April 27, 2024, at Washington’s Hilton, but no complete official all-attendee roster was publicly released.
That missing master roster matters. The most reliable names below come from post-event photographs and direct reporting; pre-event previews identify expected guests or weekend-party participants, while Biden’s speech mentions do not by themselves prove attendance.
Key takeaways
- The 2024 White House Correspondents’ Dinner took place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.

- Publicly documented celebrity attendees included Scarlett Johansson, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Billy Porter, Molly Ringwald, Rosario Dawson, Lynda Carter, Questlove, Keri Russell, Rachel Brosnahan, and others.
- Documented political and government attendees included Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Jill Biden, Antony Blinken, Karine Jean-Pierre, Chuck Schumer, Lucy McBath, and John Fetterman.
- No single complete official seating chart or all-attendee roster has been publicly released, so expected guests and speech references should not be treated as confirmed attendance.
2024 White House Correspondents’ Dinner Guest List: who attended?
The strongest public attendance evidence comes from post-event red-carpet photographs and direct event reporting. The Washington Post identified or pictured celebrity guests, journalists, politicians, administration officials, and media personalities at the Washington Hilton. The names below are therefore best described as publicly documented attendees, not as a complete official roster.
| Evidence category | What it establishes | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Post-event photographs or direct event reporting | A person was visibly identified at the dinner or its red carpet | Strongest evidence of attendance |
| Pre-event preview or expected-guest report | A person was expected, invited, or planned for WHCD-weekend activity | Useful context, but not conclusive proof of entering the dinner |
| Presidential speech reference | A person or topic was mentioned during Biden’s remarks | Shows the subject was part of the evening’s remarks, not necessarily that the person attended |

Was Chris Pine at the dinner? Chris Pine was named in Washingtonian’s April 25 preview of celebrities expected or planned for WHCD-related activity, but the reviewed post-event evidence does not establish him as a confirmed attendee at the main dinner. The same caution applies to any person known only from a pre-event roundup.
Washingtonian’s preview also named Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Rachel Brosnahan, Jon Hamm, Fran Drescher, Andrew McCarthy, Molly Ringwald, Keri Russell, and Rufus Sewell among celebrities coming to Washington. The April 25 Washingtonian report covered surrounding parties and receptions as well as the dinner, so it should be read as pre-event context rather than a definitive dinner roster.
Which politicians and officials attended?
Publicly documented political and government attendees included President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Jill Biden, and senior members of the administration and Congress.
| Group | Publicly documented names |
|---|---|
| White House and administration | Joe Biden; Kamala Harris; Jill Biden; Karine Jean-Pierre; Antony Blinken; Evan Ryan; Deb Haaland |
| Congress | John Fetterman; Lucy McBath; Chuck Schumer; Maxwell Frost |
| Political figures and public personalities | Gisele Barreto Fetterman; Alyssa Farah Griffin; Symone D. Sanders Townsend; Alicia Menendez; Al Sharpton; Naomi Biden |
The April 27 presidential pool report confirms the White House motorcade and official arrival sequence at the Washington Hilton. The report also recorded Senator John Fetterman posing on the red carpet in a white hoodie and basketball shorts. The Washington Post’s event photography separately identified Vice President Harris, Naomi Biden, Jean-Pierre, Blinken and Ryan, McBath, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and other political or government figures.

- Jennifer Griffin, Boris Sanchez, Brianna Keilar, Laura Jarrett, Desi Lydic, Jordan Klepper, James Austin Johnson, Ari Melber, Maria Cardona, Ana Navarro, and Symone D. Sanders Townsend
The Washington Post’s red-carpet coverage is particularly useful for this group because it identifies people by their professional roles rather than presenting an undifferentiated celebrity list.
Who hosted the 2024 White House Correspondents’ Dinner?
Colin Jost was the featured entertainer and host of the 2024 dinner. The White House Correspondents’ Association announced Jost on February 9, 2024, describing him as a writer, performer, author, and Saturday Night Live Weekend Update co-anchor. The official announcement says Jost began writing for SNL in 2005 and had co-anchored Weekend Update since 2014.
“Colin Jost knows how to make Saturday nights funny, and I am thrilled Colin will be live from the nation’s capital as the headline entertainer for this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner.”

The same official announcement identifies Jost’s New York Times best-selling memoir, A Very Punchable Face. Readers interested in the dinner’s featured entertainer may also want to look for A Very Punchable Face by Colin Jost; the memoir is related reading about Jost, not an official 2024 dinner guest-list book.
What did Joe Biden say at the dinner?
Joe Biden delivered the presidential remarks at 8:12 p.m. at the Washington Hilton, according to the official transcript of Biden’s remarks. The speech included references to Donald Trump, Representative Lauren Boebert, Howard Stern, Lorne Michaels, Colin Jost, Scarlett Johansson, and journalists including Evan Gershkovich, Alsu Kurmasheva, Austin Tice, and Paul Whelan.
Biden’s remarks added political and press-freedom context to the celebrity-focused coverage, but a speech mention does not independently prove that the person named was inside the ballroom. Attendance should be established through photographs or direct event reporting wherever possible.
“In the age of disinformation, credible information that people can trust is more important than ever.”

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why were people protesting the 2024 dinner?
Protests outside the Washington Hilton were connected to the Israel-Gaza war. Reuters reported that demonstrators gathered outside the hotel, encouraged journalists to boycott the dinner, and criticized U.S. policy. The Washington Post also documented pro-Palestinian protesters attempting to impede arriving guests.
The protests formed a serious counterpoint to the evening’s red-carpet attention. Claims about the war and U.S. policy remain politically disputed, so the most accurate description is that demonstrators made those criticisms and news organizations documented the protests; the protest claims should not be presented as uncontested facts.

The White House Correspondents’ Association says the annual dinner is its main source of revenue for supporting journalists who cover the president, educating the public about the First Amendment and a free press, and providing scholarships for journalism students. The dinner is therefore both a high-profile social event and a fundraising occasion connected to journalism.

The White House Correspondents’ Association was founded in 1914, according to Reuters’ 2024 reporting, and Reuters reported that the dinner has been held nearly every year since 1921. Reuters described the 2024 gathering as an event where “hundreds of journalists, politicians and celebrities rubbed elbows in a massive banquet hall,” but did not provide a precise total attendance figure.
How reliable is the published 2024 guest list?
The published list is reliable as a collection of publicly documented names, but it is not a complete official seating chart. The reviewed public materials do not provide a single authoritative, table-by-table roster for everyone inside the Washington Hilton ballroom.
| Claim about a person | What can responsibly be said |
|---|---|
| Shown in post-event red-carpet photography | Describe the person as identified or pictured by event coverage |
| Named in a pre-event article | Describe the person as expected, invited, or associated with WHCD-weekend plans |
| Mentioned in Biden’s remarks | Say the person was mentioned in the speech; do not infer attendance |
| Seen at a CAA, UTA, Politico, or other surrounding event | Attribute the person to that adjacent event, not automatically to the dinner |
For that reason, phrases such as “publicly documented attendees included” and “the red carpet and event coverage identified” are more accurate than “everyone who attended.”
