Why January 5 matters
The lineup was revealed in stages: the Golden Globes published an initial presenter group on January 3 and added another group on January 4. The January 5 release brought the announcements together as the full lineup, including Lipa, Leto and Batiste. The earlier posts are the January 3 announcement and the January 4 follow-up.

What to know about the ceremony
The 81st Golden Globes took place Sunday, January 7, 2024, with Jo Koy hosting for the first time. The broadcast was scheduled for 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS, with streaming on Paramount+ in the United States. In the official release’s description of that event’s access, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers could watch live through their local CBS affiliate feed and stream on demand; Paramount+ Essential subscribers could watch on demand the day after the ceremony. These were the arrangements for the 2024 broadcast, not a current schedule.
Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment were executive-producing showrunners, and Weiss was also set to direct. Dick Clark Productions planned, hosted and produced the awards, according to the official announcement.

How many people watched?
In a January 9, 2024 event recap, CBS News reported that Nielsen estimated the telecast drew 9.4 million viewers. That figure is a Nielsen estimate as reported by CBS News; the cited recap does not present it as a figure published directly by Nielsen. CBS News’ recap also describes the telecast as its best-rated in years.
