This is a guide to a 2024 fall-and-winter TV roundup, not a list of upcoming premieres. Published September 2, 2024, the original feature selected 40 shows, arranged them by release date, and paired them with descriptions, cast details, and viewing guidance. Its recommendations are historical; check current listings and regional availability before trying to watch a title.
What the 2024 preview covered
The roundup brought together returning series and new shows across drama, comedy, animation, and genre television. Its editorial framing highlighted returning titles such as Squid Game, Silo, Arcane, Abbott Elementary, Shrinking, and Somebody Somewhere, alongside shows drawing on Star Wars, Dune, and Gotham City.
That framing describes the feature’s selections, not an objective ranking or a complete measure of the 2024 television season. The accessible copy identifies examples from the lineup, including English Teacher, The Perfect Couple, The Penguin, Agatha All Along, Hysteria!, Interior Chinatown, and Creature Commandos. It does not provide a reliably verified, complete set of all 40 entries here, so this retrospective should not be treated as a reconstructed episode-by-episode or title-by-title schedule.
What makes the selections useful to browse
Returning series and familiar worlds
For viewers looking for another season of a known show or a return to a familiar fictional universe, the preview included titles such as Abbott Elementary, What We Do in the Shadows, Heartstopper, and Arcane. It also pointed to franchise-related fare: The Penguin is a Batman spin-off, while Dune: Prophecy explores the origins of the Bene Gesserit.

Adaptations and new stories
Several entries had a clear connection to earlier works. The Perfect Couple adapts Elin Hilderbrand’s novel, while Three Women is based on Lisa Taddeo’s nonfiction book. English Teacher was presented as a series created by and starring Brian Jordan Alvarez. These hooks help distinguish an adaptation from an original series, but they do not by themselves tell you whether you need prior knowledge to follow a show.
Readers interested in the source material can look for Lisa Taddeo’s Three Women, the nonfiction book behind the series. Check the edition and local availability with a bookseller or library.

How to use the old viewing guide now
The original feature named services including FX/Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, HBO/Max, Apple TV+, and Peacock for individual shows. Those were viewing pointers in a 2024 article, not a guarantee of where a title is available today. Streaming rights, service names, and catalog access can change, and availability may differ by country.
- Search for the show by its exact title in your region’s current streaming catalogs.
- Check the platform or distributor’s current listing for the season and episode you want; a service carrying one season does not necessarily carry every season.
- If a show is absent from subscription catalogs, check legitimate rental, purchase, library, or broadcast options available where you live.
The roundup is best read as a snapshot of what its editors were anticipating for fall and winter 2024. Its date order and short descriptions can still help identify shows to explore, but the page should not be used as a current premiere calendar or a definitive streaming directory.
