Morgan Wallen led the 2024 CMA Awards nominations with seven, while Beyoncé and her album Cowboy Carter were absent from the final nominee list. The Country Music Association announced its nominees on September 9, 2024; the list below reflects nominations, not the winners announced at the ceremony later that year.
How the 2024 CMA nominations were decided
The CMA said 6,609 eligible voting members—country-industry professionals—determined the nominations. Its September 9 announcement presented the final nominees in ballot-category order. A nomination is recognition on that ballot; it does not mean the nominee later won.
The CMA’s official 2024 nominee list includes credited songwriters, producers, mix engineers and directors in categories where the award recognizes those contributors.
Who led the nominations?
Morgan Wallen led with seven nominations, including Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year. He also appeared in several categories for “I Had Some Help,” with Post Malone, and in Musical Event of the Year for “Man Made A Bar,” with Eric Church.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton each received five nominations. Post Malone and Lainey Wilson each received four. These totals count nominations across categories, not awards won.
Why Beyoncé was described as snubbed
Beyoncé and Cowboy Carter did not appear on the final nominee list. “Snubbed” describes that omission; the CMA’s announcement does not establish why voters did not nominate her or the album. Contemporary coverage also described the result as a shutout, but that characterization is not an explanation from the CMA.
