What the 75th Emmy Awards covered
The awards recognized the 2022–2023 television season. The Television Academy reported that the Primetime telecast presented awards in 26 categories, plus the Governors Award, while 97 other categories were awarded at the Creative Arts ceremonies. Those ceremonies recognize work across artistic and technical fields, including cinematography, guest performers, music, production design, and special visual effects. The Academy credited Ernst & Young LLP with compiling the winners list.
Why the “2023 Emmys” ceremony happened in 2024
“2023 Emmys” refers to the season being recognized, not the year the ceremonies were held. The Creative Arts ceremonies took place January 6 and 7, 2024, and the Primetime ceremony followed on January 15 at the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE, broadcast on Fox. The January dates followed a postponement from the customary September period amid the 2023 actors’ and writers’ strikes. The Television Academy announced the ceremony schedule and structure in its 75th Emmy Awards date announcement; the Los Angeles Times also reported on the postponement and leading winners in its contemporaneous coverage.
