There is no verified, published fan poll in the available sources that establishes a definitive top 20 WWE Superstars of the 2000s. Ranker’s documented vote counts belong to its all-time WWE list, not a decade-only poll. So this article does not pass an editorial selection off as a fan-voted result: it explains the evidence, sets a clear 2000s scope, and offers a transparent, criteria-based list of 20 notable performers as an editorial guide.
Is there a fan-ranked top 20 for WWE in the 2000s?
Not one verified by the sources available here. Ranker has an all-time WWE fan-vote list and a separate list for the 2000s, but the reviewed evidence does not establish a published, decade-specific top 20 with verifiable vote totals. The all-time list cannot be used as a substitute for a poll about the decade. Ranker’s all-time list is a changing crowd ranking, not a 2000s-only result.

The figures reported for that all-time page are snapshots, not a survey of all WWE fans. Ranker showed 29.1K voters and 471.5K votes in a 2025 search-result snapshot. GiveMeSport reported 14,781 voters for The Undertaker’s first-place entry on May 21, 2025, while the opened Ranker page showed 14,778 voters at its own crawl snapshot. Those small differences illustrate why vote totals need a page and date attached—and why none of these figures should be described as the 2000s fan vote. GiveMeSport’s report covers the all-time ranking.
Scope and method for this decade list
The 2000s here means January 1, 2000 through December 31, 2009. The list below is an editorial selection, not a poll result. It considers WWE-era achievements and weighs sustained prominence, in-ring work, business influence, marketability, merchandise appeal, and pop-culture footprint. These are the criteria Bleacher Report said it used for its 2018 decade ranking; its list is editorial rather than fan-voted. It also limited placements to achievements during a performer’s WWE employment and included men and women. Bleacher Report’s 2018 ranking explains that framework.

Rank order is inevitably debatable because longevity, drawing power, match quality, and cultural recognition do not always point to the same person. The order below is a reasoned editorial synthesis, not a claim about measured fan consensus or a full-career ranking.
20 notable WWE Superstars of the 2000s
-
John Cena
Cena became one of WWE’s defining figures of the decade. His prominence in the Ruthless Aggression Era, strong marketability, and crossover visibility make him a leading choice when sustained presence and business impact carry substantial weight.
-
The Undertaker
The Undertaker’s longevity and major WrestleMania matches make him central to any decade discussion. He also tops Lente Desportiva’s separate editorial ranking, though that placement is one publication’s judgment, not a fan-vote result.
-
Triple H
Triple H combined championship-level prominence with a central role in Evolution, the faction that helped frame Randy Orton’s rise. His decade-long visibility and influence on WWE storytelling bolster his case.

Randy Orton
Orton rose from a promising young performer to a major WWE star during the decade. His place in Evolution and subsequent individual prominence give him a strong claim on both longevity and in-ring achievement.
-
Stone Cold Steve Austin
Austin’s most defining run came before the 2000s, but his early-decade presence and enduring cultural impact still matter when considering WWE’s transition into the new millennium. A strict decade-only performance ranking would weigh him differently from an all-time or influence-focused list.
-
Shawn Michaels
Michaels returned to regular in-ring competition in the 2000s and delivered a sustained run of high-profile matches. His case rests especially on in-ring work and his importance to WWE’s major events.
-
Batista
Batista became a leading star after breaking out with Evolution. His championship run, physical presence, and later crossover into film strengthened his profile beyond weekly television.

-
Kurt Angle
Angle’s credentials and athletic style made him an exceptional in-ring performer during his WWE years. His decade case is strongest on match quality and championship-level presence.
-
Edge
Edge grew into a main-event performer through the decade, with major rivalries and championship success. His progression from tag-team star to singles headliner is part of his enduring significance.
-
Rey Mysterio
Mysterio brought a distinctive high-flying style to WWE and remained a major figure throughout the decade. His visibility also broadened the range of performers who could headline and connect with audiences.

Trish Stratus
Stratus was one of WWE’s most prominent women performers of the decade. Her sustained visibility and role in the company’s women’s division merit inclusion in a list that evaluates more than championships alone.
-
Randy Savage
Savage’s WWE impact is most closely associated with an earlier era, so he is not a strong decade-only choice. He is excluded from the ranking; his example underscores why an all-time list and a 2000s list answer different questions.
-
Rob Van Dam
Van Dam’s distinctive style and popularity made him a notable WWE performer during the decade. His strongest case is based on fan connection and in-ring identity rather than uninterrupted top-of-card presence.
-
Jeff Hardy
Hardy’s high-risk style and connection with audiences made him one of WWE’s most recognizable performers in the latter part of the decade. His popularity is a key part of his claim.

Why published rankings disagree
Different lists answer different questions. A fan-vote platform reflects the people who chose to vote on that platform at a particular moment; an editorial list reflects its author’s criteria and judgment. A ranking based on WWE-only achievements can also differ from one that counts a wrestler’s entire career or legacy. Finally, a performer can rank highly for match quality while another leads on marketability, merchandise, mainstream recognition, or sustained presence.
Lente Desportiva’s editorial top five—The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Randy Orton, Triple H, and John Cena—shows that variation. It is a separate 50-person editorial comparison, not a fan consensus. Lente Desportiva’s decade ranking offers one contrasting order.
Who was the best wrestler of all time?
There is no neutral, universally accepted answer: “best” depends on whether the question means technical skill, championship record, influence, popularity, or longevity. For the narrower question of WWE in the 2000s, Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, Orton, and Austin are all defensible names under different weightings. That is an editorial assessment, not a result established by a decade-specific fan poll.
