It is a snapshot of one Reddit user’s sample—not a definitive ranking of the best names or a measure of what parents overall are choosing.
The 20 names in the Reddit tally
These are the first 20 entries, in the order shown in the post. The author says the tally came from comments on girl-name posts from “the past month or so.”

- Felicity
- Camille
- Josephine

The r/namenerds tally also presents some 2025 Social Security Administration rankings. For example, it lists Sylvie at 282, Claire at 68, Daphne at 178, Iris at 61, and Cora at 113. Those numbers are attributed to the Reddit post and have not been independently checked against the SSA dataset.
What “according to Reddit” means here
This is one user’s count of suggestions in a limited set of recent Reddit comments. It does not represent all Reddit users, establish which names are objectively best, or show how common the names are among babies overall. The order reflects that sample and the author’s counting choices.

A separate r/namenerds thread asks, “What are you naming your 2026/2027 baby girl?” Its replies illustrate that naming discussions are about more than lists: people share personal shortlists and decisions, ask about pronunciation, and weigh how names work across languages and family contexts. Those replies are individual anecdotes, not broad evidence about naming preferences.
How to use the list when choosing a name
- Start with your own taste. Treat the list as a source of ideas, not a vote you need to follow.
- Say each name in your family’s context. Consider how you and the people who will use the name pronounce it, and whether its spelling is likely to be clear in your languages or community.
- Try it with the names that matter to you. Say it alongside a surname or sibling names if you want to assess how the combination sounds to your family.
- Check details separately. The Reddit discussions do not establish name meanings, origins, or authoritative pronunciations. Look to a reliable reference for those specifics rather than inferring them from a crowd list.
Frequency in this tally can tell you which suggestions appeared often in that particular sample; it cannot decide whether a name fits your child or family. Pronunciation, spelling, language context, and personal preference may matter more than a community ranking.
