Per andare oltre le chiacchiere di circostanza, scegli un tema adatto al momento e fai una domanda aperta, poi ascolta davvero la risposta. Ecco 20 spunti flessibili per parlare con amici, familiari o nuove conoscenze: non sono una scaletta da recitare né una formula per garantire sintonia.
20 argomenti per avviare una conversazione
Usa le domande come punto di partenza: puoi adattarle alle persone e alla situazione. Per una conoscenza nuova, meglio iniziare da gusti, luoghi o curiosità; con qualcuno di fidato, può esserci spazio per temi più personali.
- Piccole gioie quotidiane: «Qual è una cosa semplice che ti ha migliorato la giornata di recente?»
- Luoghi in cui ci si sente a proprio agio: «C’è un posto in cui ti senti subito a tuo agio?»
- Cibo e ricordi: «C’è un piatto che ti ricorda casa o una persona importante?»
- Viaggi e scoperte: «Quale luogo ti ha sorpreso più di quanto ti aspettassi?»
- Passioni nate per caso: «Come hai iniziato a interessarti a questa cosa?»
- Musica, film o libri che restano: «Quale storia o canzone ti è rimasta in mente ultimamente?»
- Abitudini che fanno stare bene: «C’è una piccola routine che ti aiuta nelle giornate piene?»
- Competenze da imparare: «Che cosa ti piacerebbe saper fare meglio?»
- Ricordi d’infanzia leggeri: «Quale gioco o attività amavi da piccolo o da piccola?»
- Tradizioni familiari o culturali: «C’è una tradizione che ti fa piacere mantenere?»
- Persone da cui si è imparato: «Chi ti ha dato un consiglio che ricordi ancora?»
- Piccoli momenti di orgoglio: «Qual è una cosa che hai fatto e che ti ha reso soddisfatto o soddisfatta?»
- Valori nella vita quotidiana: «Che qualità apprezzi di più in chi ti sta vicino?»
- Che cosa rende bella una giornata: «Che cosa deve succedere perché tu dica: oggi è stata una bella giornata?»
- Progetti e curiosità future: «C’è qualcosa che non vedi l’ora di provare?»
- Tecnologia e cambiamenti: «Quale cambiamento recente ti ha semplificato la vita, o te l’ha complicata?»
- Natura e stagioni: «Dove ti piace andare quando vuoi stare un po’ all’aperto?»
- Umorismo: «Che tipo di comicità ti fa ridere davvero?»
- Tempo libero: «Se avessi un pomeriggio libero senza impegni, come lo passeresti?»
- Cose da migliorare intorno a noi: «C’è una piccola cosa nel mondo intorno a te che vorresti migliorare?»
Come scegliere il tema giusto
Prima di fare una domanda, considera quanto conosci la persona, quanto è intimo l’argomento, il contesto culturale e quanta attenzione o tempo avete. Con una nuova conoscenza, luoghi, gusti e interessi sono spesso un inizio più leggero. Valori e ricordi possono essere adatti a un rapporto di fiducia, ma lascia sempre all’altra persona la scelta di quanto raccontare.
Con adolescenti, evita domande che li spingano a rivelare esperienze difficili o ricordi dolorosi. UNICEF raccomanda di considerare il contesto culturale e di non affidare loro argomenti che li obblighino a parlare di esperienze o ricordi difficili: Impara ad ascoltare.

- Fai una domanda alla volta. Il CDC consiglia di fare domande aperte e di prepararsi ad ascoltare: How to Listen and Support Someone in Need.
- Segui ciò che emerge. Se la persona sembra coinvolta, puoi chiedere «Che cosa ti è piaciuto di più?» oppure «Come ci sei arrivato o arrivata?»
- Condividi anche qualcosa di tuo. Racconta un’esperienza pertinente senza riportare subito tutta l’attenzione su di te.
- Verifica di aver capito. Se serve, riassumi brevemente ciò che hai sentito e lascia alla persona la possibilità di correggerti. L’ascolto attivo comprende interesse, domande mirate e parafrasi: L’Arte di Saper Ascoltare: Ascolto Attivo.
- Rispetta i segnali. Una risposta breve, un cambio di argomento o un’espressione di disagio sono motivi per seguire un altro tema, non per insistere.
