People en Español’s May 19, 2016 gallery named 15 celebrities in a look at public comments, social posts and a comedy sketch related to curves and body acceptance. The list is a snapshot of that year—not a current ranking or a definitive account of anyone’s views today.
The 15 celebrities in the 2016 gallery
People en Español’s Thatiana Diaz presented these names as examples of celebrities who embraced or discussed curvy bodies. Its examples varied: some were remarks attributed to interviews, others were social posts, and one was a comedy sketch.
- Demi Lovato
- Dascha Polanco
- Selena Gomez
- Khloé Kardashian
- Gina Rodriguez
- Ashley Graham
- Adele
- Mindy Kaling
- America Ferrera
- Kate Upton
- Dinah Jane Hansen
- Rebel Wilson
- Meghan Trainor
- Amy Schumer
- Melissa McCarthy
The gallery’s range matters: it included, for example, a swimsuit post from Lovato, social posts by Gomez and Hansen, and a Schumer comedy sketch, alongside comments about body shape or representation attributed to other people on the list. These are examples selected for a 2016 feature, not evidence that all 15 made the same argument or held an identical view.
What the gallery reported them saying
The following quotations are reproduced as People en Español attributed them to other publications. They should be understood as second-hand quotations reported by the gallery, rather than as independently checked transcripts of the original interviews.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Dascha Polanco: Quoted from The Huffington Post: “The most important thing is how you embrace those differences and how you love yourself to the point where you’re comfortable in your own skin and enhance the qualities that make you.”
- Adele: Quoted from People: “I’ve never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that,”
- Mindy Kaling: Quoted from The Guardian: “If someone told me that I had a gross body, I’d say, ‘Well, it’s bringing me a lot of happiness.’ Like, I’m having a fine time of it.”
- America Ferrera: Quoted from a 2012 Cosmopolitan for Latinas interview: “How much time have I wasted on diets and what I look like? Take your time and your talent and figure out what you have to contribute to this world,” followed by “and get over what the hell your butt looks like in those jeans!”
The gallery also described remarks about shape or representation from Khloé Kardashian, Gina Rodriguez, Ashley Graham, Kate Upton, Rebel Wilson, Meghan Trainor and Melissa McCarthy. It included Demi Lovato’s swimsuit post and social posts from Selena Gomez and Dinah Jane Hansen, rather than presenting every example as an interview quotation.
Later and earlier context on body acceptance
Lainey Wilson in 2023
The subject did not end with the 2016 gallery. In a NewBeauty interview published May 11, 2023, Lainey Wilson discussed her own struggles with body image and said: “It’s really important to me to use my platform to lift those women up and encourage them to embrace their curves.” That later interview is a separate example, not part of the original 15-person list.

Tyra Banks, Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson in 2007
A CNN transcript dated October 25, 2007, records Tyra Banks, Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson discussing body acceptance. Banks said, “I look at this picture and I think it is curvy. I think it`s beautiful. I think it is hot. It think it is sexy.” Beyoncé said, “Some people are naturally thin and it looks great. And some people are naturally thicker or heavier or curvier or whatever you want to call it.” Hudson said, “Sometimes I get asked do you feel pressured to be a size zero or two? No, I feel pressured to hold on to my jelly because I love it and I want to stay the same.” These statements provide period context; they should not be taken as a measure of the speakers’ present-day views.

The original feature is most useful as a record of public examples gathered in 2016. It brings together different kinds of material and does not establish a single shared definition of “embracing curves.” Nor does it support treating the people named as a current ranking, or using the list to make claims about their bodies or opinions now.
