There is no official measure of the “best” anime arc, and rankings differ in both scope and order. This is an editorial selection, judged by payoff from earlier setup, character change, thematic depth, memorable scenes, and how effectively the anime adapts the story. The sources support a strong cross-series shortlist, but not 15 equally substantiated choices; rather than pad the list with weakly supported picks, this ranking covers the 11 candidates the cited coverage backs most clearly.
1. Marineford — One Piece
Marineford earns the top position for turning a rescue mission into a world-shaking war. The deaths of Ace and Whitebeard give the conflict personal and lasting consequences, while the scale of the battle makes the upheaval feel larger than any one crew. Beebom and ComicBook.com both place it first among their selected One Piece arcs.
Its power comes from the collision of long-running relationships and political forces: the emotional stakes are intimate even as the balance of the wider world shifts. Arc boundaries vary by source. The official ONE PIECE.com story index groups Marineford as episodes 459–516, while Beebom uses 457–489; these are different taxonomies, not interchangeable episode counts.
2. Chimera Ant — Hunter × Hunter (2011)
The Chimera Ant arc makes its central conflict a study of what separates humanity from monstrosity. WatchMojo highlights the parallel development of Gon and Meruem, culminating in confrontations that test each character in sharply different ways: Gon against Pitou and Meruem against Netero. That contrast gives the arc its unusual thematic force, as well as its emotional weight.

#1 Best Overall
- DARK DEKU: Hunt down the League of Villains with Total Anime Izuku Midoriya
- MY HERO ACADEMIA: 6.5-inch highly poseable figure is based on My Hero Academia
- 30+ ARTICULATION POINTS: Features 30+ points of articulation for dynamic play and display
- CUSTOMIZABILITY: Includes removable backpack, swappable faceplates, and alternate hands for customization
- SPECIAL ACCESSORY: Also includes energy effects to display Fa Jin and Blackwhip
Its ambition is also its risk: the focus and tone shift substantially as the story expands. The arc ranks highly here because its character changes feel consequential rather than decorative.
3. Soul Society — Bleach
Ichigo’s attempt to save Rukia from execution gives Soul Society a clear urgent objective, then complicates it through the rules and power structure of the society he must enter. WatchMojo points to its fights and major reveal as defining strengths. The arc’s appeal lies in how the rescue story opens into a broader portrait of a militarized institution, with new opponents and shifting loyalties raising the stakes along the way.
4. Wano — One Piece
Wano combines a multi-act story, Oden’s history, the raid on Onigashima, and the arrival of Gear 5. Beebom, ComicBook.com, and WatchMojo all place it near the top of their respective rankings, praising its scale, battles, and animation. Its long build gives the climactic conflict room to pay off earlier character and historical threads.
Rank #2
- Naruto Uzumaki, as seen in "NARUTO: Shippuden," rejoins S.H.Figuarts with all new joint technology
- [Set Contents] Main Body, Three left and four right optional hands, Four optional expressions, Kunai, "Rasengan" effect, Crossed arm parts
- Stands approximately 5.5" tall
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed product
That scale is also a matter of taste: the extended structure demands patience. Wano’s rank reflects the strength of its accumulated payoff and visual set pieces, not a claim that every stretch is equally brisk.

Enies Lobby turns a rescue into a declaration of loyalty. The crew’s assault on a World Government stronghold is driven by Robin’s past and her choice to live; her plea gives the arc its emotional center. Luffy versus Rob Lucci supplies a direct physical climax, while the crew’s collective action makes the fight feel like a shared commitment rather than a solo victory.
Beebom ranks it fourth within One Piece; ComicBook.com places it fifth in its shorter list. Boundaries differ: ONE PIECE.com groups episodes 264–325 under Enies Lobby, while Beebom lists selected blocks 264–290, 293–302, and 304–312.

6. Frieza Arc — Dragon Ball Z
WatchMojo’s cross-series list calls this the Frieza Arc. The conflict on Namek builds toward Goku’s Super Saiyan transformation and his confrontation with Frieza, turning a desperate struggle into one of the genre’s most recognizable power shifts. Its place in anime history rests not only on the spectacle but on the simplicity and clarity of its dramatic escalation.
Arc labels and boundaries can differ between editions and guides, so “Frieza Arc” here follows WatchMojo’s terminology rather than asserting one universal episode range.
7. Golden Age — Berserk
The Golden Age flashback centers on Guts, the Band of the Hawk, and the relationships among its central trio. WatchMojo emphasizes how those bonds shape the arc before the Eclipse transforms the story’s direction. The result is a tragedy whose impact depends on the character history built beforehand: the devastation matters because the people and loyalties at stake have been made vivid.

8. Arlong Park — One Piece
Arlong Park is a compact story of liberation, focused on Nami and the village under Arlong’s control. ComicBook.com notes its treatment of oppression and racism; Beebom singles out the crew’s walk toward the park as a defining emotional moment. That scene works because it turns support into action: Nami is no longer facing her situation alone.
9. Alabasta — One Piece
Alabasta gives the crew a political crisis with personal stakes: helping Vivi save her kingdom from collapse. ComicBook.com includes it among the essential arcs, emphasizing the effort to protect her country. Its strength is the way a journey with a concrete goal grows into a conflict over a nation’s future, giving the ensemble a shared purpose beyond reaching the next destination.

Skypiea stands out for its setting and the long-running mysteries it touches, but its anime pacing is a genuine trade-off. Beebom calls it memorable while noting that the adaptation feels stretched and that fans disagree about its place in the series. Its inclusion here recognizes its imaginative world and narrative threads without treating every episode as equally effective.

11. Egghead — One Piece
ComicBook.com’s May 8, 2026 ranking places Egghead third among its selected One Piece arcs, citing revelations about history and Joyboy. Those revelations make the arc significant to the series’ larger story; its placement here is more cautious because the cross-series case for its lasting payoff is still developing. Adaptation status can change, so this ranking makes no claim that the anime arc is complete.
Why this list does not force 15 entries
The sources establish a set of strong candidates, not a verified universal top 15. WatchMojo’s cross-series list and franchise-focused rankings use different scopes and orders, while the cited material does not substantiate four additional picks to the same standard. Adding names simply to reach 15 would imply evidence and consensus that are not established. This is therefore a ranked selection of the best-supported candidates, not an authoritative all-time canon.
