Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallSome co-stars have described periods of genuine hostility; others had creative friction, traded public criticism, or were said by third parties to have avoided one another. The phrase “totally hated each other” makes for a catchy headline, but it does not fit every story here. These 13 cases distinguish firsthand accounts from recollections and disputed reports—and note when relationships later changed.
What counts as a co-star feud?
There is no consistent measure of celebrity feuds, and these stories are not a ranked list. A person’s account of their own working relationship is different from a director’s later recollection or an unnamed source’s report. Some conflicts were described as temporary; some became public disputes; and in a few cases, the people involved later reconciled or became friends.
Co-stars who described difficult working relationships
1. Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, The X-Files
Anderson said there were periods when she and Duchovny “hated each other,” then immediately qualified the phrase: “Hate is too strong a word.” She described long stretches without talking and said they had both been difficult to one another. Duchovny recalled that they argued over nothing, but also said that, with time, appreciation and affection for longtime collaborators remained. Their own accounts describe a difficult relationship that changed, rather than a permanent feud. [c001]
2. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, Mad Max: Fury Road
Both actors later described the production as exceptionally pressurized and their relationship as difficult. Hardy said he had been in over his head and that the pressure on both of them was overwhelming. Theron said fear led them to put up walls instead of talking through what each was experiencing. Their comments frame the conflict as a strained working relationship under pressure—not evidence of lasting mutual hatred. [c001]

3. Will Smith and Janet Hubert, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Smith acknowledged that he had made the set difficult for Hubert. Hubert, who left the series after its third season, said she felt banished. The two later reconciled publicly during a 2020 reunion, after years of estrangement. Their account is one of the clearer examples here of a conflict followed by an acknowledged repair. [c001]
4. Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, The Vampire Diaries
Dobrev said she and Wesley did not get along at the beginning of the show, describing their early dynamic as so antagonistic that it could read as chemistry. Wesley characterized their early relationship as a creative clash. Both later said they had become close friends. The important distinction is that their own descriptions concern the start of the series, not the full course of their relationship. [c002]

Co-stars whose clashes are known through public accounts
5. Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte, I Love Trouble
Roberts publicly said she and Nolte got on each other’s nerves and made critical remarks about one another. Nolte responded with criticism of Roberts. The exchange is attributable to the actors, although the coverage noted that Roberts may have been speaking playfully. It supports a story of mutual irritation and public sparring, not a definitive claim about private hatred. [c001]
6. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, The Notebook
Director Nick Cassavetes later said Gosling asked for McAdams to be replaced and recalled an argument between the actors. That is the director’s retrospective account, not a direct statement from either performer establishing an ongoing feud. TIME also noted that Gosling and McAdams later dated for four years—a reminder that a difficult moment on a production does not describe an entire relationship. [c003]

7. Naya Rivera and Lea Michele, Glee
In her memoir, Rivera described heated moments and said she felt Michele disliked sharing the spotlight. Rivera also made the qualification that headlines often omit: she said she did not hate Michele and never had. This is Rivera’s account of tension between co-stars, not proof of mutual hatred. [c002]
8. William Shatner and George Takei, Star Trek
Shatner and Takei have exchanged public criticism and counterstatements over the years. TVLine’s account documents a longstanding public feud, but public comments do not establish what either actor privately felt on set. The most supportable description is a durable public dispute between two members of the Star Trek cast. [c002]

9. Jennifer Aniston and Jay Mohr, Picture Perfect
Mohr claimed that the film’s leading woman made clear she was unhappy with his casting. Marie Claire recounts the claim and traces it to a 2010 interview with ELLE. Because the account comes from Mohr, it should be understood as his recollection—not an independently established account of Aniston’s views. [c005]

10. Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall, Sex and the City
Cattrall said the cast were not best friends and described them as professional actresses with separate lives. In later comments, she said she had never been friends with the cast and that Parker could have been nicer. Parker repeatedly disputed the feud framing, describing affection and criticizing the way the media portrayed the relationship. Their statements complicate the familiar story: they establish a public disagreement about the relationship, not a settled account that the two “totally hated” one another. [c004]

11. Harrison Ford and Sean Young, Blade Runner
Marie Claire repeats reporting that Ford and Young had a difficult relationship and that crew members called one of their love scenes “the hate scene.” That is secondhand reporting, not a direct admission from either actor. It may support the description of a reportedly tense set, but it is weaker evidence for what either performer personally felt. [c005]
12. Jerome Flynn and Lena Headey, Game of Thrones
Marie Claire cites unnamed-source reporting that the former couple were not on speaking terms and were kept apart. Since the account rests on anonymous sources, it should be treated as a report about their alleged professional distance—not as confirmed proof of hostility or a documented account from either actor. [c005]
13. Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Marie Claire describes a famous rivalry between the actors and quotes Davis saying she had never forgiven Crawford. The line is compelling, but the account here comes through a roundup rather than a verified original interview and its full context. It is fair to call theirs a widely reported rivalry; the available account does not justify treating every story about their relationship as established fact. [c005]
