There is no supported all-time top 10 here: WWE’s published countdown covers WrestleMania matches, not every WWE match on television or at other events. Its 2012 list runs from 59 seconds down to 11 seconds; WWE later reported that The Rock beat Erick Rowan in six seconds at WrestleMania 32. That makes the countdown a useful historical snapshot, not a current ranking of the shortest WrestleMania matches.
What these times cover
WWE published its countdown of the 10 shortest matches in WrestleMania history on March 30, 2012. The table preserves WWE’s order and reported times. The source does not describe a standardized timing method, so these figures should be read as WWE’s reported durations, not independent bell-to-bell measurements. In Rey Mysterio’s match with JBL, for example, WWE notes that JBL attacked before the bell; the table uses the countdown’s 21-second figure for the match, not a separately measured total including that attack.

WWE’s 2012 countdown: 10 short WrestleMania matches
| WWE’s 2012 rank | Match and event | Reported time | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk) vs. Power and Glory (Hercules and Paul Roma), WrestleMania VII | 59 seconds | The Legion of Doom beat Power and Glory in under a minute. |
| 2 (tie) | Butterbean vs. Bart Gunn, WrestleMania XV | 35 seconds | This was a special-attraction Brawl for All bout, rather than a conventional wrestling match. WWE says Butterbean knocked Gunn out with a right hook about 35 seconds in. |
| 2 (tie) | Earthquake vs. Adam Bomb, WrestleMania X | 35 seconds | WWE characterized the bout as a quick squash. |
| 4 | Red Rooster (Terry Taylor) vs. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, WrestleMania V | 31 seconds | WWE says Taylor scored the three-count about 31 seconds after the bell. |
| 5 | King Kong Bundy vs. S.D. Jones, WrestleMania I | 24 seconds | Although the undercard match had a 20-minute time limit, Bundy finished it in 24 seconds. |
| 6 | Hulk Hogan vs. Yokozuna, WrestleMania IX | 22 seconds | WWE describes it as Yokozuna’s first WWE Championship defense and says Mr. Fuji’s errant salt toss contributed to the finish. |
| 7 | Rey Mysterio vs. JBL, WrestleMania XXV | 21 seconds | Mysterio won the Intercontinental Championship. WWE’s account also notes that JBL attacked before the bell. |
| 8 | Hart Foundation vs. The Bolsheviks, WrestleMania VI | 19 seconds | The Hart Foundation attacked during Volkoff’s anthem and won quickly. |
| 9 | Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus, WrestleMania 28 | 18 seconds | Sheamus pinned Bryan after a Brogue Kick in a World Title match. |
| 10 | Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero, WrestleMania XXIV | 11 seconds | Kane won the ECW Championship after Chavo was distracted by Kane’s entrance. |
All ten ranks, match descriptions and times in the table come from WWE’s 2012 countdown. The two 35-second entries are tied by the reported duration; WWE’s page lists Butterbean–Gunn before Earthquake–Bomb.
Why Kane vs. Chavo is not the later WrestleMania record
The 11-second Kane–Chavo bout was the shortest entry in WWE’s 2012 countdown. But WWE’s 2018 WrestleMania facts article says The Rock beat Erick Rowan in six seconds at WrestleMania 32, besting the record set by Kane and Chavo. The six-second figure is WWE’s reported time, not a new measurement made for this article.
#1 Best Overall
That later WWE statement updates the WrestleMania comparison, but it does not establish a current all-time ranking across every WrestleMania or all WWE programming. The available official material supports the historical countdown and WWE’s 2018 record claim—not a definitive list covering weekly shows and every match format.

How to read a “shortest match” list
- Check the scope. A WrestleMania countdown is not the same as a ranking across all WWE events and television.
- Check the timing convention. An attack before the bell may be included in a video segment but excluded from the timed match, as the Mysterio–JBL example illustrates.
- Check the format. A Brawl for All contest such as Butterbean–Gunn differs from a standard wrestling match, even when both appear in the same countdown.
- Check the date. A published record list can become outdated when a later event produces a shorter match, as happened to WWE’s 2012 countdown.
