These ten rappers have been documented using stage names with a dollar sign. The spellings below are historical or reported stylizations, not a guarantee that every artist uses them as current official branding. The symbol’s meaning also varies by artist; it is not a shared rule of hip-hop naming.
Ten rappers whose names have used a dollar sign
1. Joey Bada$$
Joey Bada$$ is one of the best-known examples of a dollar sign replacing the final letters in a stage name. XXL included the spelling in its 2013 roundup of rappers with dollar signs. XXL’s list records the styling; it does not establish a current branding status.
2. A$AP Rocky
A$AP Rocky’s name places the symbol within the A$AP styling. XXL’s 2013 list includes him among its examples. The available reporting records the spelling without assigning the dollar sign a specific personal meaning for Rocky.
3. A$AP Ferg
A$AP Ferg also appeared in XXL’s 2013 list. As with A$AP Rocky, the sign is part of the written A$AP form; the cited coverage does not explain what it means to Ferg.

4. Too $hort
Too $hort’s name uses the symbol in place of the initial letter of “short.” XXL included this spelling in its historical list of dollar-sign names.
5. Ty Dolla $ign
The FADER discussed Ty Dolla $ign in a 2016 feature about dollar signs in artists’ names. The symbol appears within “Dolla” and again at the start of “$ign,” making the styling especially prominent. The article documents the name but does not provide a single universal explanation for artists’ use of the symbol.
Rank #2
6. Ma$e
Ma$e’s spelling replaces the “s” with a dollar sign. The FADER reported that Ma$e told Forbes he was inspired by an earlier Bad Boy artist and chose the sign because it looked “fresh.” That explanation is reported by The FADER, rather than quoted here as a direct statement from a Forbes article.
7. Curren$y
Curren$y uses the sign in place of the “s” in his stage name. XXL included the stylized spelling in 2013; the list supplies the example, not an explanation of the artist’s intent.

8. Ca$his
Ca$his is a stylized name associated with rapper Ramone Johnson. XXL’s 2013 list includes the spelling, and it is also documented in a Cashis reference entry. These records establish the stylization, not a current official-name claim.
9. Trinidad Jame$
Trinidad Jame$ uses the sign in place of the final “s.” In a 2016 email quoted by The FADER, he explained: “The $,” he tells FADER via email, “represents getting money.” The article also reports that he said the symbol reminded him of hustling. That is his stated explanation, not a definition that applies to other artists.
Rank #4
10. Robb Bank$
Robb Bank$ is a reported stylization of Robb Banks. A Robb Banks reference entry records the dollar-sign form; the available coverage does not establish whether it is his current official styling or explain why it is used.

There is no evidence here of one motive shared by all ten artists. The FADER framed the symbol as a money-oriented or aspirational signal for some musicians, while reporting distinct artist-specific choices. Trinidad Jame$ connected it to getting money and hustling; the same feature’s account of Ma$e points to visual appeal and inspiration from an earlier Bad Boy artist.

Stage-name styling can change. The FADER reported in 2016 that Travis Scott’s dollar sign had disappeared from his social-media accounts and official websites. “Travi$ Scott” is therefore a past styling in that account, not an unqualified current name. Historical lists are useful for finding examples, but they should not be treated as a definitive roster of artists who currently use the symbol.
