This guide covers horror films announced for U.S. theatrical or streaming release in fall 2026—not every title that happens to be newly added to a streaming catalog. Release dates and platform availability can change, and streaming catalogs vary by territory. The verified announcements currently support three picks; the remaining entries are discovery leads, not confirmed release recommendations.
What new horror movies are coming out this Halloween?
These announced releases are the clearest Halloween-season picks currently established by the available sources. The list separates theatrical releases from streaming premieres so you can tell whether to look for a cinema showing or a service listing.
| Movie | Release type and date | What to expect | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Other Mommy | Theatrical release announced for October 9, 2026 | Supernatural horror adapted from Josh Malerman’s novel Incidents Around the House | Theaters; local showtimes not stated |
| R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead sequel | Streaming premiere announced for October 9, 2026 | A sequel in the horror franchise; further premise details not stated | Tubi; check your territory |
| Scary Movie (2026) | Streaming debut announced for September 3, 2026 | Horror-comedy; an extended cut is included in the announcement | Paramount+; check your territory |
Other Mommy
Universal announced Other Mommy for theaters on October 9, 2026. The story follows Bela, a young girl who forms a relationship with an entity in her home that resembles her mother. Jessica Chastain plays both Bela’s mother and the entity; Jay Duplass plays Bela’s father, and Arabella Olivia Clark plays Bela. James Wan and Rob Savage are attached, with Savage directing. The film is based on Malerman’s Incidents Around the House. See Universal Pictures’ release announcement and its film listings for updates.
R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead sequel
Tubi announced an October 9, 2026 premiere for the sequel as part of its Terror on Tubi programming. This is a streaming pick, not a theatrical date. The announcement establishes the premiere and service, but does not provide enough detail here to describe the sequel’s plot or confirm availability outside the relevant territory. Check Tubi’s listing near the date.

Scary Movie (2026)
Paramount+ announced a September 3, 2026 streaming debut for Scary Movie (2026), including an extended cut, in its Peak Screaming collection. It is the earlier-at-home option among these announced releases. Catalog access depends on country and may change; confirm the title in your local Paramount+ catalog.
Which new horror movies can I stream in October?
For an October premiere, Tubi’s announced R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead sequel is the clearest match, with a stated October 9 debut. Scary Movie is a September streaming release rather than an October premiere, though it may remain available into October depending on the catalog in your region. Neither announcement establishes worldwide access, so search the service in your country before planning a watch party.
What about the other seven movies?
Current October roundups from TechRadar and Fandango can help surface additional theatrical and streaming candidates. They are discovery guides, not proof of a complete, authoritative slate. The available verified announcements do not establish seven more titles with dates and platforms, so naming them as confirmed picks would risk giving you inaccurate release information. Check each candidate against its distributor or streaming service before relying on a date.

- Prefer a streaming premiere? Look for the Pumpkinhead sequel on Tubi on or after its announced October 9 date.
