Several Hollywood actors have documented martial-arts ranks, competition records or years of formal training—but those are different kinds of evidence. There is no single certification standard shared across the disciplines below, and an action role alone does not prove a credential. Here is what the cited sources actually say about ten actors, with ranks and achievements attributed to the sources that report them.
What “certified” means in these profiles
Martial-arts credentials are specific to a discipline and the organization that awards or recognizes them. A black-belt rank, a championship result, competitive experience and sustained training are not interchangeable. The profiles below preserve those distinctions; where a claim comes from an actor’s own biography, it is identified as such.

Cynthia Rothrock
Rothrock’s official site presents her as a martial-arts athlete who moved into film after competition and notes her Black Belt Hall of Fame recognition. It does not establish a belt count in the cited material, so none is assigned here. Official site.
Jean-Claude Van Damme
A biographical profile reports that Van Damme began karate training at age twelve and won a European full-contact kickboxing championship in 1979. That is a reported competition history, not independent confirmation of a certification by a martial-arts federation. Biography profile.

Adkins’s official biography says he began judo at age ten and later trained in martial arts daily. The cited biography does not name a certifying body or a rank, so the supported description is that he trained in martial arts. Official biography.

- Rank: Note the discipline, degree or dan, and the organization named in the account; distinguish an actor’s biography from confirmation by the awarding body.
- Competition: A championship or national-team record documents competitive achievement, not necessarily a rank.
- Training: A stated training history shows study or practice, but does not by itself establish certification.
- Screen work: Action choreography and convincing performances are not proof of a martial-arts credential.
The available profiles support different kinds of claims and vary in authority. They do not provide a common test of skill, so they cannot establish which actor is the better fighter.
