What the published viewing numbers do—and do not—show
Viewing figures cannot establish a comparable “greatest” list. What’s on Netflix reported 325.1 million views for KPop Demon Hunters in 2025 and described it as Netflix’s most-viewed movie at that time. Netflix’s Q1 shareholder letter separately reported 67 million views for The Life List and 40 million for Plankton: The Movie. Those figures refer to different titles, dates and reporting contexts; the latter two are not entries in this ranking.
“With more than 700 million people watching, we can’t just be one thing. We need to be the best version of everything,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria said in the company’s 2025 slate announcement.
That statement describes Netflix’s programming strategy, not an independent audience measurement or proof that any one film is superior.
