The clearest documented career picture comes from WWE’s accounts of his ECW wrestling and later commentary, along with Taz’s own 2008 explanation of why he left the ring. Here are 10 facts that trace those turns.
1. WWE identifies him with Red Hook, Brooklyn
WWE’s profile lists Tazz’s hometown as the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, New York. It gives his billed height and weight as 5 feet 9 inches and 240 pounds; those are WWE’s profile specifications, not independently verified measurements. WWE’s Tazz profile also features the line, “Beat me if you can. Survive if I let you.”
2. Suplexes and submissions defined his ECW style
WWE describes a style built around martial-arts throws, submissions and a broad suplex arsenal. According to the profile, ECW commentator Joey Styles dubbed the moves “Tazzplexes.”
3. The Tazzmission was his signature hold
WWE lists the Tazzmission as his signature move and describes it as a choke hold that forced opponents to submit. It fit the direct, submission-focused identity reflected in the rest of WWE’s account of his ring style.

8. He cited injuries, burnout and his neck when explaining retirement
In a WWE-published interview on January 10, 2008, Tazz said he had injuries, felt burnt out, and that his neck was a factor in deciding to stop wrestling. He also described thinking about his young son and the family life he wanted ahead. Those were the reasons he gave in that interview, not a claim about his present-day views.
