1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf you want boxing at the center of the story, start with Hajime no Ippo or Ashita no Joe. For a futuristic spin, try MEGALOBOX or Levius. This list also flags a few looser fits: some titles use boxing as a heightened spectacle, while others are broader combat anime rather than stories about the sport.
Which boxing anime should you watch first?
- For training, technique and an underdog story: Hajime no Ippo.
- For a classic, hard-edged boxing drama: Ashita no Joe.
- For futuristic boxing with a link to that classic: MEGALOBOX, followed by NOMAD: MEGALOBOX2.
- For science-fiction spectacle: Levius.
- For comedy or deliberately heightened fights: One Pound Gospel or Ring ni Kakero.
The ten picks below are not all equally close to real-world boxing. The first group is boxing-centered; the later entries include stylized and adjacent combat series. The list draws on a published roundup for its titles, but that source’s streaming notes are not a reliable guide to current availability. HowStuffWorks’ boxing-anime roundup

Boxing-centered stories
1. Hajime no Ippo (Fighting Spirit)
A natural first choice if what you enjoy about boxing is the work behind a bout. The recommendation list describes Ippo’s progression from a bullied teenager to a committed boxer, making the appeal as much about growth and training as about fights. Choose this for an earnest underdog sports story rather than a futuristic or supernatural take.
2. Ashita no Joe (Tomorrow’s Joe)
A landmark, hard-edged boxing drama and the clearest classic-era pick here. The official MEGALOBOX site identifies Ashita no Joe as its source work and dates the manga’s serialization to 1968–1973. Official Japanese MEGALOBOX 2 introduction

For a current viewing option, Crunchyroll announced on 2024-11-14 that Tomorrow’s Joe would begin streaming that day. That announcement records a launch, not guaranteed access now: check the service’s catalog in your country before relying on it. Crunchyroll’s dated streaming announcement
3. MEGALOBOX
This is boxing reimagined as a futuristic spectacle, not a portrait of ordinary modern competition. Its official English page says the television series first released in April 2018 in connection with the 50th anniversary of Tomorrow’s Joe. That connection makes it a particularly good follow-up for viewers curious about how a classic boxing story can inspire a very different world and style. Official MEGALOBOX English page
4. NOMAD: MEGALOBOX2
Continue with this sequel if you want more of the MEGALOBOX setting. The official Japanese introduction describes the former Gearless Joe returning to underground fighting seven years after his tournament victory. Its premise signals a continuation with a changed fighter and circumstances, rather than a standalone repeat of the first series. Official MEGALOBOX 2 introduction
5. Levius
Levius takes boxing into fictional metalboxing: a science-fiction world where combat is shaped by mechanical technology. It is a fit for viewers who want the ring and the discipline of a fight story, but prefer an invented sporting system to realistic boxing.
VIZ lists the first season as 12 episodes and announced its Blu-ray release for 2023-03-21. The publisher’s page describes the complete first-season set as including all 12 episodes on Blu-ray and digital; check the listing for current stock and whether the edition works with your equipment. 6. One Pound Gospel
A lighter option that mixes boxing with romantic comedy. The roundup characterizes it as a rom-com, so expect a change of tone from the intensity of Ashita no Joe or the training emphasis of Hajime no Ippo. It belongs on a boxing-anime list for its connection to the sport, not as a realism-first recommendation.

7. Ring ni Kakero
Choose Ring ni Kakero for heightened, stylized boxing rather than a grounded depiction of bouts. It is one of the roundup’s named picks, but the available description does not establish enough detail to make a more specific claim about its tone or format.
8. Bewitching Nozomi
This title appears in the roundup, but the available description does not establish its premise or how closely it follows boxing. Treat it as a less-verified inclusion, not a first recommendation for someone specifically seeking a boxing-centered series.
9. Baki the Grappler
Baki the Grappler is an adjacent combat-anime choice, not a straightforward boxing recommendation. It appears in the roundup’s ten, but its inclusion reflects a broad combat category rather than a promise that the story focuses on the sport of boxing.
10. Kengan Ashura
Like Baki the Grappler, Kengan Ashura is better approached as broader fighting anime than boxing anime. Try it if you want combat spectacle beyond the ropes; choose one of the boxing-centered entries above if you want the sport itself to be the point.
How to choose a boxing anime
| What you want | Start with | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Underdog progress and training | Hajime no Ippo | The roundup describes a bullied teenager becoming a committed boxer. |
| Classic, hard-edged boxing drama | Ashita no Joe | It is presented as a classic boxing-centered story. |
| A modern science-fiction reworking | MEGALOBOX | Futuristic boxing, officially linked to the 50th anniversary of Tomorrow’s Joe. |
| More story in the MEGALOBOX world | NOMAD: MEGALOBOX2 | The official introduction follows the former Gearless Joe seven years later. |
| Mechanical, fictional boxing | Levius | Its metalboxing premise puts the sport in a science-fiction setting. |
| Comedy or broader fighting spectacle | One Pound Gospel, Baki the Grappler or Kengan Ashura | These suit viewers open to a different tone or a looser relationship to boxing. |
Where to watch or own these series
Streaming rights vary by country and can change, so search the title in services available where you live rather than treating an old platform mention as current. The dated Crunchyroll announcement establishes that Tomorrow’s Joe launched there on 2024-11-14, but does not establish present-day access in every region. For a documented physical-media option, VIZ lists Levius: The Complete First Season on Blu-ray and digital; verify edition, stock and compatibility before ordering.
