Notable results and context
Two winners in 1994
The 1994 men’s match ended with Bret Hart and Lex Luger as co-winners, so the year has two names rather than one.
The 1992 match decided the championship
In 1992, the vacant WWE Championship itself was at stake in the Royal Rumble match. That is different from treating every winner across the series as having competed for identical stakes.
#1 Best Overall
Back-to-back wins and the 2024 results
Cody Rhodes won the men’s match in both 2023 and 2024. WWE’s 2024 event results describe him as the fourth Superstar to win back-to-back Royal Rumbles. The same results report that Bayley lasted 1:03:03 in the women’s match, setting a new women’s match record at the time; that is WWE’s published figure for the 2024 edition.
Checking the 1997 result
WWE’s official 1997 event page says Austin “last eliminates Bret Hart to win the Royal Rumble Match.” That wording identifies the decisive elimination in an outcome sometimes worth checking against the official event record.
