Pretty Pretty Please I Don’t Want to be a Magical Girl is an animated pilot by Kiana Khansmith, not a confirmed full series. Its introduction of Aika, Zira and Hoshi makes a case for seeing the story continue—but the available reporting does not establish that a series order has been made.
What is Pretty Pretty Please I Don’t Want to be a Magical Girl?
It is an animated pilot created by Kiana Khansmith, whose credits include Big City Greens. The Verge’s Charles Pulliam-Moore described the project as not yet a full show when he wrote about it on February 28, 2025. The pilot introduces three characters: Aika, voiced by Anairis Quiñones; Zira, voiced by Bennett Abara; and Hoshi, voiced by Christine Marie Cabanos.
Pulliam-Moore’s central argument was that the pilot offers enough to warrant a series: “Kiana Khansmith’s (Big City Greens) Pretty Pretty Please I Don’t Want to be a Magical Girl isn’t a fledged show just yet, but her new pilot introducing Aika (Anairis Quiñones), Zira (Bennett Abara), and Hoshi (Christine Marie Cabanos) is concrete evidence that it absolutely needs to be.” Read The Verge’s article.
Has the pilot received a series order?
The available reporting does not confirm a series order. The Verge article is an appeal for the project to become a show, not an announcement that a network or streaming service has commissioned one. Its publication date is February 28, 2025; later commissioning status is not established here.
