Outpost X is a remote, sci-fi-themed resort near Beryl in southern Utah, where cave-style stays and domes create an otherworldly atmosphere. But the claim that it is “surrounded by 7 top national parks” is not supported by the available sources: they identify Zion as a possible excursion and group Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef as southern Utah parks, without establishing seven nearby parks or verified drive times.
Where is Outpost X?
Outpost X is near Beryl, Utah. A May 2025 feature places it about 50 miles west of Cedar City. The resort’s cinematic desert setting draws on science-fiction imagery, including Star Wars, Mad Max, and Dune influences, according to Mark Eddington’s May 4, 2025 feature.
Manager John Lawson told Eddington, “We want guests to feel like they’re on another planet without leaving this one. It’s about reconnecting, forging new bonds, and escaping the daily grind.” Founder Travis Chambers described the concept this way: “This isn’t just a hotel,” Chambers quips. “It’s an experience.” These are statements reported in the feature, rather than independently verified descriptions of what every stay currently includes.
What is staying at Outpost X like?
A September 2024 hosted-stay account describes cave-style homes and Zen Domes, with kitchenettes and shared facilities. It also mentions optional food and wardrobe experiences and land speeders. These details reflect that visitor’s stay, not a guaranteed current inventory or list of amenities. Before booking, confirm the accommodation type, facilities, and available experiences directly with the resort. The account is at Luckey Wanderers’ September 22, 2024 visit report.

Does Outpost X have seven top national parks nearby?
The sources do not substantiate the title’s seven-park claim or establish a ranking of “top” parks. The National Park Service describes Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef together in its account of southern Utah’s striking geological formations; its overview does not say that all three are close to Outpost X. Read the National Park Service’s southern Utah geology article for that landscape context.
Zion is the park specifically mentioned as a possible excursion from the resort. The 2024 visitor account estimated about a 90-minute drive to Zion’s western entrance near La Verkin. That is a dated approximation, not a current route estimate; actual travel time depends on the route and conditions. The available sources do not provide verified current distances or drive times from Outpost X to seven parks.

How to plan a stay and park visit
Outpost X may suit travelers looking for an immersive desert stay who are willing to plan around a remote setting. A park-focused trip needs its own itinerary: check each park’s current official access information and confirm drive times with a current routing service before deciding whether the resort works as a base.
