What Monica’s death may change for Pascal and Firehouse 51
Pascal returns to work, but grief affects his judgment
In a March 25, 2025 interview with TVLine, Mulroney said Pascal goes back to work but struggles to manage his emotions and may make poor decisions. He described Pascal’s grieving process as “really bumpy” and said colleagues would help rein him in. Mulroney also cautioned that he did not yet know how the rest of the season would unfold, so his comments are a preview, not confirmation of every consequence. Read the TVLine interview.

The crew may offer support, while Pascal keeps his distance
Newman described Monica and Pascal’s relationship as complicated, marked by love and passion as well as darkness. She said Pascal had crossed lines to protect Monica. Looking ahead, Newman said the loss would push him to the edge, while leaving open whether he would grow closer to the crew or strain relationships he had been building. Firehouse 51 wants to help, she said, but Pascal is private; she also teased surprising bonds forming along the way. These comments appeared in a TV Insider interview published March 6, 2025.
A separate leadership conflict is also ahead
Newman previewed a tense encounter between Pascal and Boden, who is investigating what went wrong during a tragic firefight Pascal commanded. Boden will question Pascal’s decisions. The interview presents this as a concurrent work and leadership conflict; it does not establish that Monica’s death causes the firefight or the investigation.
