Doctor Doom is not part of The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ main story. He appears in the mid-credits scene, set four years later, beside Franklin Richards. The film does not reveal where Doom was before then or explain why he approaches Franklin.
Does Doctor Doom appear in the main story?
No. The film shows a Latverian delegation at the Future Foundation, but its masked leader is absent. The delegation’s presence does not establish that Doom himself is there.
When does Doom appear?
Doom appears in the story-centric mid-credits scene, which takes place four years after the main events. Sue is reading to Franklin, then leaves the room to get another book. While she is away, Doom appears beside the child.
How do we know the figure is Doctor Doom?
The scene withholds the figure’s face and gives him no dialogue. ScreenCrush reported that Vanessa Kirby confirmed Robert Downey Jr. was in the costume (ScreenCrush); Den of Geek identifies the character as Victor von Doom (Den of Geek).
