In a Variety profile published May 22, 2025, Zachary Levi said his team had told him that some people preferred not to work with him because of his opinions. He said his team did not give him specific names. His account describes what he was told; it does not establish a Hollywood-wide refusal to hire him or confirm the motives behind any particular hiring decision.

Levi also said he had expected possible consequences and had not made his decision “blindly or casually.” Because the people and decisions were not identified, the profile does not document a specific project, employer, or casting choice linked to his views.
Which opinions was he referring to?
Variety situated Levi’s remarks amid his skepticism about COVID-19 vaccines and his support for Donald Trump after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ended his Democratic primary bid and endorsed Trump. Levi said he anticipated that expressing his views could affect his career.

The profile also reported Levi’s view that reactions were not all negative. He said some people on the other side of the political spectrum were more inclined to hire him and do business with him, including because they wanted to work with people who had voted differently. These are Levi’s descriptions of individual reactions, not a measure of industry-wide hiring patterns.
What did James Gunn say about Levi?
Variety quoted DC Studios executive James Gunn responding to a question about Levi’s Pfizer post: “And you know, I can’t be changing my plans all the time because an actor says something that I don’t agree with.” Gunn’s comment addresses his approach to plans; it does not identify a particular casting decision or verify Levi’s account about unnamed contacts.

How does the Laura Benanti dispute fit in?
In a separate dispute, Us Weekly reported that Laura Benanti, Levi’s former She Loves Me co-star, criticized him on a podcast, including over comments he made after the death of their former co-star Gavin Creel. That disagreement is distinct from Levi’s account about unnamed professional contacts; it does not identify those contacts or establish their reasons for not working with him.
