Chicago thrifter Ashley Cano said she paid $18.99 at Goodwill for a Vera Wang wedding gown resembling one Carrie Bradshaw wore in a Vogue bridal photoshoot. It was not Carrie’s wedding-day dress in the first Sex and the City film: that gown was designed by Vivienne Westwood.
What Ashley Cano found at Goodwill
Cano shared the find in a TikTok posted February 26, 2025. “I can’t believe I found this dress at Goodwill for 18.99,” she said, according to The Daily Dot’s March 4, 2025 report. The price is her reported purchase price.
The comparison that caught fans’ attention was to a Vera Wang gown Carrie Bradshaw wore for a bridal photoshoot in Vogue. The Daily Dot reported that Cano clarified her find was not the dress Carrie wore to marry Mr. Big.

People coverage republished by AOL identifies the Vera Wang style associated with the photoshoot as the Eleanor Bridal Gown. That style name does not establish that Cano’s particular dress is an Eleanor, authenticate it, or show that it appeared on screen.

Was the Goodwill gown Carrie’s actual wedding dress?
No. The story’s headline shorthand can make it sound that way, but the distinction matters: the Goodwill find was compared to Carrie’s Vera Wang photoshoot gown, while Carrie’s wedding-day dress was Vivienne Westwood. The reporting establishes a resemblance and a style association, not the thrifted gown’s provenance. It does not confirm that it is an original screen-used costume.
Was the gown put up for sale?
As of The Daily Dot’s March 4, 2025 report, Cano had not yet listed the gown on her online shop and was receiving inquiries. That is a dated update, not confirmation of whether the dress was later sold or is available now. The reporting also described her concerns about arranging local try-ons safely.

The Daily Dot reported that Cano’s TikTok had more than 138,000 views and 10,000 likes as of March 4, 2025. The same article reported 2.4 million views and 93,000 likes for an X repost at that time. Those are publication-date snapshots, not current totals.
