As of the latest cited report, there is no substantiated announcement that Léon 2 is in production or scheduled. In April 2024, Première reported that Luc Besson said a second installment had never been planned. That is a dated account, not a promise that plans can never change.
What Luc Besson has said about a sequel
In an interview published by The Guardian on August 15, 2014, Besson said people frequently asked him for a sequel: “You can’t imagine how many people ask me for a Léon sequel.” He added that he did not feel motivated to make one, saying, “If I was motivated by money I would have done it a long time ago. But I don’t feel it.” The interview records his view at that time; it is not a current production update.

More recently, Première reported on April 2, 2024, that Besson said there had never been plans for a second installment. The article presents this as reported speech, so it is best understood as an account of his remarks rather than a direct quotation.
What the Mathilda story report does—and does not—show
A March 10, 2026 article from kino.de reported that a continuation centered on Mathilda had once been considered, and that its story was later adapted in altered form into another film. This is a secondary account, not evidence that Léon 2 was officially announced, greenlit, or filmed. Read the kino.de report.
