No Season 3 pickup has been announced for Taken, and no official order from Netflix or Prime Video has been reported. NBC cancelled the 2017 action drama in May 2018 after two seasons. A streaming service could still license the two existing seasons, but licensing episodes that already exist is a different decision from commissioning new ones, and the available reporting and official material do not show either happening.
Where the show stands
NBC cancelled Taken in May 2018. Broadcasting+Cable reported at the time that “Taken lasted two seasons.” The available reporting and official material for this update do not record a revival, a renewal, or a new production deal since then.

“Pick up” can mean two different decisions
When readers ask whether a service will pick up a show, they may mean one of two things. The table below separates them.
| Question | Licensing the existing seasons | Ordering a new Season 3 |
|---|---|---|
| What changes | A service adds Seasons 1 and 2 to its catalog | New episodes are produced |
| Status for Taken | Not established for Netflix or Prime Video in any country | No order announced; NBC cancelled the show after two seasons |
| Who decides | The studio or other rights holder, which may license past seasons to outside services (per NBC’s help page) | The network or streamer commissioning the production; no such commitment is reported |
| Visible signal | The title appears in a regional catalog | An official announcement from the network or service |
| Dependency | Can happen with no new episodes | Does not automatically bring the old seasons to any service |
A catalog listing answers only the first question. It says nothing about whether a third season exists.

How rights decide what streams
NBC’s Help Center page, “Why Can’t I Watch Past Seasons or Episodes of an NBC Show?”, states: “In some cases, a studio or other rights holder may license past seasons to other streaming video services like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon.” That is a general description of how past seasons move between services. It is not evidence of a specific Taken deal.
Netflix’s help material explains that it licenses television shows and films, and that titles may leave when agreements expire. It names rights availability, popularity in a given region, and licensing cost as factors in whether a title stays in its catalog. In practice, the same show can be available in one country and absent in another, and can change over time.
Checking whether the existing seasons are available to you
Catalogs differ by country and change without much notice, so check the service directly rather than relying on an older article or a fan list.
- Sign in to Netflix or Prime Video on the account and device you normally use. Menu layouts change, so search rather than navigating through menus.
- Search for “Taken” and confirm the entry is the 2017 NBC series, not a film or unrelated title.
- Check that the entry lists the season you want. A series page may show only one season, or none.
- Confirm the country. The catalog you see depends on the region your account is set to, and a title found in one country may be missing in another.
- If the series does not appear in your region, it is not currently available there through that service. The reporting available for this update does not establish availability for any country.
Buying the existing series on DVD
The Australian distributor Madman lists Taken: The Complete Series on DVD. That product covers the two existing seasons only and does not include a third. Retail stock and listings vary by territory, so before buying, confirm the listing is for the complete series, check the disc’s region coding against your player, and confirm the product is currently in stock with the seller.

What would change the answer
- An official announcement from NBC, the production company, or a streaming service that new Taken episodes have been ordered.
- A streaming service announcing a commission for original or new Taken episodes, as distinct from adding existing seasons to its catalog.
