Night Shyamalan was asked whether another movie would happen in the Unbreakable universe. “I don’t think so,” he replied. He also said Bruce Willis is central to that world and described a character idea that might fit it, but said he did not want to force the idea into the franchise. That is Shyamalan’s current outlook, not a formal announcement that the series can never return. Read the interview.
Will there be another Glass movie?
There is no indication in Shyamalan’s latest direct comments that a fourth film is planned. His 2025 answer was “I don’t think so” when asked whether another movie would happen in the universe. He did not describe a new sequel in development or rule out every possibility for the future. The 2025 interview is the clearest answer available.

What movies make up the trilogy?
The connected story consists of Unbreakable, Split, and Glass. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment described Glass as completing the trilogy that began with the first two films. Universal’s release announcement also lists the film’s home-media formats.
Shyamalan has described the project as a long story he once hoped to tell across multiple films. In a 2021 WIRED interview, he said he was fortunate to finish the trilogy with Split and Glass. Read the interview transcript.

Why does Shyamalan say the story is over?
His reasoning has been consistent: he prefers making original stories and introducing new characters rather than continuing with sequels. In 2019, when asked whether Glass marked the end, he said, “I would say so,” and spoke about wanting to tell original stories. The Independent reported his comments.
In 2023, he said he probably would not make another sequel, explaining that he had thought of Unbreakable as a trilogy and preferred starting from scratch with new ideas. Read the 2023 interview. His 2025 answer was more directly about another movie in the same universe, but it points in the same direction.

Could the franchise ever return?
Yes, in the sense that Shyamalan’s remarks are statements of his present intentions, not a permanent studio prohibition. His 2025 answer leaves room for plans to change, but offers no evidence that a fourth film is being made. The interview does not announce a project or give a production timeline.
