Jaden Smith is not known to have died in a car crash. The rumor that he had is a social media claim, and the reporting available on it describes a TikTok video that implied his death without offering any evidence of a crash. Jaden Smith’s reported reply was the single word “Invisible,” which a secondary article says he posted on Twitter. That detail is the one most readers will search for, and it is the one with the least independent documentation, so it is covered carefully below.
What the rumor claimed
The claim circulated as a TikTok montage that suggested Jaden Smith had died. The clip presented the idea as if it were news, but it did not point to a police report, a hospital record, a news dispatch about a collision, or any other verifiable event. An unsupported death claim of this kind is usually easy to disprove once a person is seen working, posting, or speaking publicly, and that is the pattern in this case.

The reporting does not establish who posted the video, why they posted it, or how far it spread. Anyone writing about the rumor should avoid naming an originator or assigning a motive unless new reporting supports it.
What Jaden Smith reportedly said
A 2024 article on a site presenting itself as VoxVibe says Jaden Smith answered the rumor on Twitter with one word: “Invisible.” That article is secondary reporting. It is not a copy of the original post, and no archived screenshot or link to the post was available for this piece, so the wording should be attributed to that report rather than presented as a verified quotation.
#1 Best Overall
The article also places the reported reply on February 23, but the page does not clearly state the year. Because of that, the exact date of the episode should not be given as settled. The April 10, 2024 date on the page is its publication date, which does not necessarily match the date of the rumor.
The 2019 hoax that is easy to confuse with it
A different and earlier hoax claimed that both Will Smith and Jaden Smith had been killed in a car crash. It circulated in early December 2019. Lead Stories published its fact-check on December 8, 2019, and it reported that the claim relied on a fake website that imitated CNN and a fabricated video. PolitiFact published its own fact-check on December 10, 2019, rated the claim “Pants on Fire!”, and said neither Smith had been killed, injured, or involved in a crash.

Because both episodes involve Jaden Smith and a fatal crash claim, some readers may merge them. The table below separates them.
| Detail | 2019 hoax | TikTok rumor in the 2024 report |
|---|---|---|
| Who was named | Will Smith and Jaden Smith | Jaden Smith |
| Claim | Both died in a car crash | Jaden Smith died in a car crash |
| Distribution method | Fake news-style website imitating CNN and a fabricated video | TikTok montage |
| Fact-check | Lead Stories (December 8, 2019); PolitiFact (December 10, 2019, rated “Pants on Fire!”) | Not stated in the reporting available |
| Date | December 2019 | Not established; the 2024 article’s dated reply reads February 23 with no clear year |
| Public reply | Not stated in the reporting available | Reported one-word response, “Invisible,” attributed to Twitter |
The reporting does not show that the two episodes are the same post or the same campaign. Treat them as separate claims that share a theme.

How to check a death rumor like this one
- Search for the name together with “fact check” and the word “hoax.” Established fact-checkers such as PolitiFact and Lead Stories publish dated rulings that show up quickly for widely shared claims.
- Look for coverage from wire services or major news outlets. A real fatal crash involving a public figure is reported by several independent outlets, not only by one video or one unfamiliar website.
- Check the domain. Fake news sites often imitate the branding of real outlets, as the 2019 hoax did with CNN.
- Look for recent activity from the person. Public posts, interviews, or appearances after the supposed date are direct evidence against a death claim.
- Be careful with a reported reply. If you cannot locate the original post, describe the reply as reported by a named outlet, and note the date the outlet gave.
What remains unestablished
- The year of the TikTok rumor.
- Who created or first posted the video.
- Whether the “Invisible” post exists in the form described, since the original was not independently verified.
- Any figure for how many people saw or shared the clip.
Readers who need certainty on these points should look for the original posts or an archived copy from the platform, and for a dated fact-check that names this specific episode.
